What?? Some of you guys are voting Lebron over Bruce Bowen and two time DPOY Kawhi?

This is telling that tho thirds of the voters are choosing between Kawhi/Bowen and the other third of posters go straight to Lebron. I get it. The same thing used to happen with Kobe. 8 years ago Kobe was a top defender in the league according to many forums. I should be used to this by now.

The fact that LeBron is actually winning already is frankly amazing to me. Unlike Kobe, I do think he deserves to make the top 10 list at his position, but certainly not before Bowen at a minimum. Kawhi/Kirilenko I guess I can maybe see him beating out if longevity is very, very heavily weighted, because he was good for a lot of years.

Yeah it’s insane. The same would have happened in the kobe days though. Kobe would have been ranked 3rd best defensive SG of all time, easy. The kobe hype was actually bigger.

That said, I think Kawhi and Bron are neck and neck in this thread, despite the bias.

Think I have to go with LeBron. Bowen only had a DRAPM over 2 in ‘04, ‘08’ and ‘09 and he averaged 32.0, 30.8, and 18.8 MPG in those seasons. LeBron had a DRAPM over 2.0 in ‘09, ‘10, and ‘11 all while playing big minutes, and also had elite DRPM in ‘15 and ‘16. LeBron also has more proven ability than anyone else under consideration to elevate his game in the playoffs as shown specifically in his all-time defensive performance in the ‘16 Finals. I don’t even see what the argument is for Bowen really other than that he’s thought of as more of a defensive player.

Ok, the guys I would probably take before lebron are

battier (definitely)
kirilenko (but he has just 23k minutes played)
iggy (without a doubt, I would consider iggy for as high as #2

kawhi is definitely a better defender but, juding on how this poll has been going (no player under 18k has been nominated, he is at 12k), I can't vote him above all time level defenders. Bruce Bowen, as I said in the first thread, I don't know if I would put him in the top 10. So to not spend a vote for someone who isn't in contention, I'm voting for Lebron James

Actually I would like to change my vote from LeBron to Shane Battier. Didn’t realize just how good he was in his prime. That DRAPM is out of this world.

LeBron and Bowen never had a single season above +2.8. That’s a pretty insane peak.
