I still feel the Sixers could use Portis and Holiday. I wonder if that would be enough to get their 19’ 1st rounder...
What I really want is their Miami pick, but that’s clearly off bounds.

Maybe, but it feels like a treadmill trade.
At this point, I would want to see the gang together first for a couple months.
Just saw this:

Yeah, I wonder if we have enough for Oubre? Portis and Hutch?
I’d love to get Oubre Jr.

Maybe it’s enough, but what is the goal? Are you just trying to get someone that is maybe as good as Portis but younger? That pick is probable mid to late 20s. I just feel like that sets us back further.

Bulls should trade: Portis, Lopez, Felicio and the first round pick to the wizards for Bradley Beal. Would be a win now move and Beal is only 25 yrs old. A Lavine\Beal backcourt would be sick for years to come.

Well, I don’t want to pay 8 figures annually to a backup big, so I wouldn’t sign Portis next year and would like to trade him while I can.

I agree - it makes little sense paying starter money for a backup big, especially when we have a really terrible PG and SF rotation, and compounded by Bobby not being a smart system player nor a good defender.

A deal around Parker for Porter.
This works for both teams:
*We need a youngish SF that can light it up from deep. Porter is a career .402% shooter from 3 and we just lost Val. Holiday isn't the "guy" and Hutch isn't ready.
*They have a young SF that they either need to play and pay or let walk (Oubre Jr). This clears room for him.
*They have two PF's on the roster....both are in the last year of their contract and are journeymen. (Jeff Green and Markieff Morris).
They would actually get a "talent" upgrade and would get a lot younger. They can send one of the PF's back our way if they want..but it would not matter. With Portis on the roster, we are fine down low (when healthy).

I find this idea quite intriguing.
It would definitely be a buy low situation, but for a (quite good) roleplayer who is paid star money. The logic would be that there’s so much money this offseason that we’d have to overpay to add anyone. And, if we’re overpaying, it would better be for a young(ish) player who fits perfectly on our team.
Don’t have a final opinion on this (it’s definitely a win now move), but if tou put a gun to my had, I would probably do it.
Having said that, I bet the Wizards would want an asset, and depending on what it is, I’d back out.

Trade top 5 protected 1st + Jabari, Portis and Dunn for Bradley Beal and Oubre and run 2 shooting guards off ball, Lavine and Beal while Lauri and WCJ are playmakers. And run Nuggets system with no PG.
Beal
Lavine
Oubre
Lauri
WCJ
Beal
Lavine
Oubre
Lauri
WCJ

Yeah, I'm thinking that everyone will be overpaid this off-season. I do agree that they might want another asset back...but the value of the asset would determine the interest. A 2nd rounder? Sure. A 1st rounder or Dunn and Hutch? Nope.
I "might" consider spicing it up.
Parker and Portis for Porter and Morris.
I guess it depends on how people feel about Portis and what his contract will look like next year.

Otto is getting 24M per.
I’d rather sign Tobias Harris for that.

Sure, there are better players at that current salary.....but.....bird in the hand man......
I would hate to miss out on a SF, and have our summer end up being that we pick-up the option on Parker and over-pay Portis.
BTW, Harris turned down 4yrs/$80 this past summer. He will be eligible for a 5yr/$188M this coming summer from the Clips. The most we could do is 4yrs/$145.5. We are talking +$36M a year.

I dont think Tobias will get more than 30M. Prob 25-27. He’s worth that money. Otto is worth 16-18M

What's the obsession with Tobias? We really need another bad defender? Otto Porter is a much better fit between Zach and Lauri.

If you can guarantee me that he will sign here for $25M-$27M, I would agree with you (would still prefer Otto's defense, but in terms of salary worth, I would agree). But that isn't how free agency works...not to mention the fact that he can get an extra year from LAC.

Re: Trade Thread: Armchair GMs welcomed
If Philly is desperate to get rid of the Fultz debacle, I'd love to end their and our Payne...
Fultz for Payne straight up. Payne can have an occasional hot shooting game, they really don't need him to do much more.
Fultz maybe a complete headcase, but who knows what a change of scenery does to him. I think I would do that trade. Not sure if Philly is ready to move on from one of the biggest trade blunders ever.

Sign me up. We'd really have nothing to lose in this trade, and I have seen enough of Payne. I'm not even a believer on Fultz fixing his issues, not until he admits the issues are not in his shoulders, yips being the most solid explanation on his woes. But if he doesn't get it together, just move on. Payne is what he is, Fultz might become something.

Re: Trade Thread: Armchair GMs welcomed
2 non-Bulls trades:
(1) The Philadelphia 76ers trade G Markelle Fultz and F Jonah Bolden to the Orlando Magic for F Jonathan Isaac, GF Jonathan Simmons, and the 2020 OKC Thunder pick (top 20 protected, if not conveyed a 2nd in 2022 and a 2nd in 2023).
Why? This is a trade of two currently disappointing first round draft picks from the same draft. It gives both players a "fresh start" in new locations where the fit might be better.
Orlando is a team with decent backup DJ Augustin starting at PG, backed up by fringe-rotation combo-guard Jerian Grant. Fultz would instantly be the most talented PG on the team, and while I do believe he has a shoulder situation (nothing else explains the giant dropoff in shooting from college to the pros), he'd come into a team with shooters all around (Fournier, Ross, even Gordon shooting a blistering 38% from 3) with a lot less pressure on him than in Philadelphia. If the shoulder issues get fixed, Fultz could blow up given that, aside from the utterly horrid shooting, he's looked like an outstanding PG prospect with nice handles, great athleticism, excellent length and size at the position, and even decent defensive instincts. The Magic also get Jonah Bolden, who has a very similar physical and skill set profile to Jonathan Isaac, though without the same upside, and signed on a cheap deal for 3 more years. By being a cheap 2nd rounder, they loose the "pressure" to play him, where he and Gordon don't seem to fit well together and both play the same position.
For the Sixers, they get a potential late first round pick, a guy in Jonathan Isaac who is further along (and has higher upside) than Bolden. Like Fultz, he'd immediately get a chance to compete for a starting spot with borderline starter Wilson Chandler and rotation shooting big Mike Muscala. Jonathan Simmons has under-performed this season, but would be useful wing depth for the Sixers.
(2) The Washington Wizards trade Otto Porter to the Brooklyn Nets for DeMarre Carroll, Jared Dudley, and the protected first from Denver that they own.
Why? It looks like Porter's best position is as a small-ball 4 - and he'd be a perfect scheme fit in Brooklyn, who has expressed interest in Porter previously. Meanwhile, Washington reduces payroll by moving 2 expiring contracts and gets a late first.

I tend to agree, but I'm not sure that Porter isn't himself more a 4 than a 3 in the current NBA. Harris is too, though. Bulls should be looking for a true wing 3, a guy who is a better fit at the 2 than he is at the 4.

Lets not tie up more big money in players who don't significantly move the needle towards championship contention. Tobias Harris and Otto fn Porter don't move that needle.
Accumulate assets, stay flexible, bide your time till a difference maker is available and then swoop in.
