Screw, ya'll. That was great TV.

On topic, are there any of these failed young guys we should be looking at trying to acquire. Like the Korkmaz or Bender types. Purely reclamation projects, of course.

I want to see us add an active young big and/or wing for defensive purposes mainly.

Yes à la Len signing, even better. This thread running into funny crazy territory, must be a tank

Like which ones though? I'm not up on which ones still have any level of potential.

And it's not a good thread unless it veers off course a couple times along the way. 8-)

Real GM

Why the heck would we be reluctant to trade an expiring contract? :dontknow:

I have an idea. The trade "proposals" probably go something like ...

GM: Yeah uh, so you got that Dedmon guy, huh?
Schlenk: (coyly) Mmhmmmmm, why do you ask?
GM: Well ... I got a bucket o' fish heads with yer name on it. Oh, and there's a multi-year deal attached to 'im too.
Schlenk: (even more coyly) Oh, well do I at least get some rice with that bucket?
GM: Nah ... and, since you're playing hardball, I'll only trade you one fish head.
Schlenk:  Now I'm reluctant.

Exactly This.
It's more about what is being offered. Are we tying up future capspace on some bum for a measly 2nd. I'd just pass and let Dedmon walk and keep the capspace.

He was also great in a movie where he was the backup QB but really should have been the starter. There was Mox, Billy Bob and tweeder (it’s niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiceeee) ...

What happened to Turtle?

It's been a few years since she last surfaced but IIRC she went through some mental illness, refused to stay on her meds, surgical addiction, etc. Was virtually unrecognizable then so I'm scared to look again. Sad, sad, sad and I'm not even kidding.

Memphis Grizzlies are pursuing a veteran center

I would offer Ded for for a 2020 first round pick if that is possible.

Of the players I am willing to move at this time. Here is my trade value for them:

Plumlee: us trading a top 5 protected pick. Since we suck and I am not willing to do that. He needs to stay.

Bazemore: our best player. He is worth to us a late 2nd round pick. That means, if you offer us a full expiring for him, he is yours. But if you offer us a negative value. He is the cost of the negative value. Let's say you offer us Plumlee for him. I want a top 5 protected pick as Plumlee is a complete negative for us.

Dorsey: can you take him for free?

Dedmon: a lottery protected 1st. Our value for him still hasn't changed. No turn into two 2nds nonsense.

Bembry: early 2nd round pick or a decent young backup. Someone like Denzel Valentine for example.

Lin: lottery protected 1st rounder. No turn into two 2nds nonsense.

Not really interested in trading the rooks, Collins or Prince at this stage.

Baze seems like a very nice fit for HOU. It's been talked about for a while, but making more and more sense.

I would also move Prince, without shopping him. I think he's close to his development plateau and now would be a good time to max his value in a rebuild trade.

Trae / Collins are the only core players.

Really hope TS goes all in and doesn't want to win a few too many games. It would compromise the next 10 years.

I think HOU is a perfect fit but they don't have anything of interest. They have no expiring contracts. They can be stingy with their picks. To take a player like Knight with that contract, they are going to have to compensate us for it like we would for others with Plumlee. At least a top 3 protected 1st and I am not sure that's all that good of a pick. I still think Houston is a shoe in for the playoffs and a good seed. Knight's contract is too big for someone who can't help at all. I'll consider a Eric Gordon for Bazemore trade. Gordon can help us win and he can get us something just as good on the trade block as Baze. I am fine with him. But a top 3 protected 1st isn't that appealing.

Prince is someone I am looking to move in the draft. Attach him with the Dallas pick and try to move up and land Reddish or Barrett if we get #1 and get Zion.

Nah, Hou has what we need. They can give us FRPs and B Knight who expires same time as Baze, after next season. I take a 19 FRP and a future second from them. Then shop Dedmon and a second for a 20s 19 FRP. Then combine some of them picks or trade less valuable to future.

Cam / Bol and another top 15 would be a haul.

The Next NBA Team That Could Go Bold on the Trade Market

After missing out on Jimmy Butler, the Pelicans are still looking for help for Anthony Davis ahead of a franchise-defining summer

Image

You can spend hours on the Trade Machine and struggle to find realistic trades. Most players that could theoretically be available don’t move the needle. And it’s especially difficult with the Pelicans because their best contract to use as trade filler, Hill’s, has another season after this one left on it. Teams want expiring contracts, and taking on an additional season could require overpaying. With that in mind, here are a few thoughts on who could help:

+New Orleans pursued a trade for Hawks wing Kent Bazemore this offseason, per league sources. Atlanta still wants to get off Bazemore’s contract, which has a $19.3 million player option for next season that he’ll absolutely pick up.

+New Orleans had interest in Jeremy Lin before he signed with the Nets in 2016, so his status in Atlanta is something to keep an eye on.

Not ideal but I'd take Solomon Hill.and their 2019 1st for Baze Saves us $6 mill next season and seeing that we won't come close to sniffing that Cavs pick that 'Upped and Vanished like a Fart in the Wind" (thanks Hazer :D ), we get another pick to use or we can re-route Hill and that 2019 pick plus whatever else to Wiz for Beal.

I wish we were a year further into our rebuild, so we could be in consideration for Beal.

I'd quickly offer them Taurean, Huerter, Dedmon, Lin the Dallas Pick, the OKC pick for Beal + a bad contract.

That might not get it done...but it checks all the right boxes.

If we could have Trae, Beal, Collins + our 2019 draft pick as the core moving forward...that would be an amazing offensive squad to proceed with.

Zach Lowe wrote:Portland wants to supplement the Lillard/McCollum duo with a third impact player, per sources around the league.

They will not get Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, or Jimmy Butler. But how different would they look if they traded for a wing on the level of Tobias Harris or Khris Middleton?

They could dangle their first-round pick to chase someone like Taurean Prince, hoping he develops into a real 3-and-D starter with more off-the-bounce juice than Harkless or Aminu.
Perhaps they could wrest Otto Porter Jr. from Washington.
