I believe that, both in life and in basketball, doing or seeing negative things is contagious and creates toxic environment, just as doing or seeing positive things around you can inspire others to do positive things.

So when players around you are taking bad shots, not running back on D, hunting stats, thinking about a new contract, others tend to do so as well. Just like making an extra pass, sacrificing your body to get an extra possession, saying my bad when you missed a rotation can make others do those things. Having good people makes it easier to have that atmosphere but coach/parent/boss/teacher is the key.

That's why Tatum getting benched after 80 seconds in the 2nd half was my favorite moment of the game. Love his talent, but he needs to learn to play the right way. You don't have to shot every time you attack a closeout, especially not a fade-away.

That's why I was so against benching Hayward (who is struggling mightily but playing the right way and giving all he has) and keeping Brown in. It sends a wrong message. Brown's entitlement after he had 1 good year is off the charts. He can be an elite role player but started playing this year like he's George or Leonard. Worst part is that things not going his way impact his play on the other end.

I've said it after 2nd or 3rd game. Rozier has no role on this team. When you add the fact that he's pressing to get stats for a new contract, you get a guy who's unhappy AND is hurting you on the floor.

When you combine all of that, plus a lot of guys shooting lower than expected from deep you get a 9-9 team.

Silver lining. This team defends. That's a sign of a well prepared team that didn't tune out a coach. So, Brad will continue preaching playing the right way and things will get better because both Tatum and Brown are coachable.

Rozier needs to be traded simply because it will open some shots/minutes for others and getting an asset for a guy that has no future here is a plus. Other than having him as a sign and trade candidate next summer I see no value in keeping him around.

I get jealous watching other team’s offense. They push the pace at a fast rate, nobody on the team hesitates on what to do with the basketball, no team moves around the ball like a hot potato in a half court offense, there’s actually cuts going to the baskets, there’s post plays, some teams just chuck up shots in a hurry but they do put up a lot of points and players seem more comfortable.

What do the Celtics do?

Get a rebound, Kyrie/Smart/Rozier jog up the court veeery slowly. Most times on offense everyone is standing at the opposite corner threes besides the ball handler and the usual big who sets the pick and roll, that’s literally the only action that’s being run on offense while everyone stands around and watches waiting to see how the defense reacts to the pick and roll. Stevens does not run any post plays when we have a lot of wings, nobody cuts. Every play on offense requires 4-5 passes which the shot clock is always down to 7 or less. Everyone looks so uncomfortable when they get the ball like they’re making up things on the fly; see that a lot with Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Rozier.

What I saw from the team last post season was Rozier being comfortable shooting quick shots, any time we got a stop we sprinted to the other side for a quick shot. We chucked shots early in the shot clock sometimes but the speed was fast and the players looked comfortable with none of them seeming hesistant in what they were doing.None of this bs hot potato snail pace **** we are currently doing. We gave Horford the ball in the post a lot which led to a lot of actions being run with cuts and screens being set.

I don't even think guys are forcing shots that they shouldn't take for the most part. I've been critical with Rozier but I really don't think he's playing for the contract. He, like the team, just seems unhappy. For whatever reason they are not having fun.

With the way this plays out, expect major trades incoming where the other team will get the better trade and we will agree to such terms just to be able to shorten the rotation.

As to who, the elephant in the room is Hayward. Simply because the lineup after he got injured reached the ECF. Hayward obviously has to be traded (and we won't look good with trading our prize FA) but he can't be with his albatross contract and CBS connection. He is simply holding the other wings back and that's why they are unhappy about it. Best thing to do atm is bench him and separate him from Tatum and Brown. He has to earn his way back to the team. They can't trust him because they know he is a threat to their roster spot.

Rozier on the other hand, is having an identity crisis. Last year he was "ok" being labelled as backup because he was getting the starter fame get into his head when KI went out. Now KI is in, he wants to be the star again. If he can't be flexible about it, trade his ass.

Morris will be traded for somebody or be put in the starters. Smart is just being Smart but he is obviously affected with what's going on in the locker rooms. Al, Baynes and the rest are just treading the waters i guess. I don't understand CBS for not playing Williams at this point.

And now where are the Eagles and Nick Foles?

I thought Kyrie and Gordon could make us elite this year. And they still can, but this team is wayyyyy too crowded.

Good thing we own half of the 1st round this year.

Lol, this team needs to consolidate badly.

I am at a loss right now. But I still think we turn this around.

No doubt on the consolidation. No way in hell we roster 4 first rounders. Wouldn't even want to. If we were in a rebuild, sure. Now, no way.

No need to search hard for Jaylen comparisons. We have one that works. He's Jeff Green with less feel for the game.

Terry trade value is plummeting and brown is the only piece I'm willing to part with if it came down to Tatum, the kings pick or him.

I would trade Brown for Green straight up. I know Green is older but he is a better player.
Green 10ppg 1.2 Assists 5.4 RPG
Brown 10ppg 1.2 assists 4.2 RPG.

Not to mention Green is a 97% FT shooter, and is shooting over 50% for the year compared to Browns 37% FG and 61% FT

Per 36
Brown 13-5-1
Green 16-7-2

Only silver lining in this game for me was I can see Gordon slowly rounding into form. Thought this was his best overall game. The main difference to me is that it seemed like he was really playing not to get hurt at first, and now, while that is probably still there, it's receding and I think he's more just starting to play again. It's still November. I think he'll be really good by March, but his progress will be incremental, and not linear either. There'll be a few games where he seems to regress here and there, but by and large the trajectory is going in the right direction and I was encouraged by his play tonight. Love, Pollyanna

Where the hell is this Terry Rozier and Jaylen Brown? I don’t think either of them showed a glimpse of this all season so far.

Return to Boston Celtics
