Do you lie the Ariza signing?

Love it! Brings exactly what we need and on a smart 1yr deal

Hate it! Not a PF, we already have too many wings and we blew our load on him?

There isn't one out there available without giving up real assets. Do you give up one of our core guys for a playoff level starter PF ? Because that's what you need to pay for that kind of player. The fact that we *needed* to get better this season makes the Ariza signing a good deal. He's only on a one year contract so we'll have the cap space when the time comes next offseason and he's going to help us from a leadership, experience, shooting and defensive standpoint. I'd rather over pay for a guy that helps us this upcoming season, doesn't hurt our future cap space and most importantly, stops us from overpaying/outbidding for a guy who may help us but will require a longer term deal. Let's also keep in mind, there may be teams who may give up assets at the trade deadline for a proven wing like Ariza.

You might cringe at the $15m figure but the rationale behind the signing is completely sound imo

Rational ? you mean the 'Wait till next year' strategy ? Next year when there will be more players (may be) but also more teams with space. You really do not have the luxury of time in this league. Everything has shifted to short term comitments and player movement/collusion. Look at Book now bargaining for an opt out clause so he can bolt early.

Sad thing is, though Ariza is a good get I guess, we didnt even fish for Gordon or VanVleet or ??? Gordon costs 70% of a Dudley more than Ariza and his deal will look like a bargain next yr. Heck, we could have had 2 years of Randall for few more bucks....But instead, we are, once again mired in the incomplete roster muck that McDregs wollers in. I've gone back and forth on what we should do, but to not even try for young guys who could be upgrades and realistic contributors (also assets) is perpetuating the losing mentality/culture that has festered now for 6 +yrs. To believe Gumbo, we shied away from restrictive FAs so not to have our money tied up....oooo like missing out on Ariza would have been a set back ? Surely there is more to come. Its hard to imagine the presser from McDoubletalk if this is it... as he will certainly spout all the great locker room s*** Ariza brings and his play blah blah blah... then not mention how this important piece will be free to walk and gone for sure next year.

I'd buy Gordon at 21X4 over renting Ariza all day. Who cares about 'future cap space' if you are adding quality players now? Im with Nav on this one.

I would have preferred to sign Julius Randle over Ariza.

Randle at $9M per year is a bargain and he would be great playing backup C and some PF next to Ayton who likes to play outside the paint.
We are gonna need more rebounding.

Bridges, Bender, Randle and Ayton at PF/C looks pretty solid to me.

Randle doesnt have the range for 4 out offense that the Suns want to run and he isnt anywhere close to the defender that Ariza is.
Just say no to idiots!!

Is there a possibility Ariza gets bought out this season?

Anything is possible but I'd bet he's traded vs bought out.
