His scoring volume/efficiency was pretty pedestrian and he was poor in the postseason. Definitely a solid playmaker though and I remember him being clutch, but it seems it really was a case of the Eastern Conference being weak so they had to find someone to hype up.. he doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the HOF imo

 If Joe Johnson makes the HOF what would he even say at his speech? And like, I can't imagine them finding any of his peers to vouch for him . Ive never heard another player say "yeah that Joe Johnson, he really gave me nightmares when I had to face him"

Kenny Smith always says that Dana Barros gave him nightmares so you can always find NBA players who would say the same for Joe Johnson

Bigger question, is Dwight Howard a HoF player?

I keep hearing that Melo is a sure-fire HOFer... but why?

The only slight chance he has is the National Championship run.

10 x all-star with 6 all-nba trams make Melo a HoF lock. There's also the scoring title and leading Syrace to national championship.

the harlem globetrotters, as a team, are in the basketball hall of fame.

that should highlight what it takes to get in the HOF.

i'd be shocked if the and 1 guys/team don't make it in soon. they had a massive impact on basketball culture in the 2000's.

The HOF already needs a separate wing to distinguish the tier 1 HOFers from the tier 2 HOFers. If they start letting guys like this in then they'll need a tier 3.

Meet Mitch Richmond and **** Dino Radja. Iso Joe and Antawn are both more accomplished (college counts ...).

Mitch Richmond is a poor example. He was a legit all-star during his prime and made 5 ALL-NBA teams. Antawn Jamison and Joe Johnson were borderline all-stars with 0 ALl-NBA selections for Jamison and 1 Third Team for Johnson.

Really? Have you every compared them.

http://bkref.com/tiny/4qE6f

Joe Johnson and Richmond are almost identical. They actuall have identical EFG%. Nearly identical VORP. Richmond was more of a volume scorer but his playoff career stats are pitiful. Johnson dwarfs him there, having played through the same amount of years 3x the playoff games.

Their non-NBA resumes are similar, both played 2 years in college to no real level of success. Richmond has the dishonor of an Olympic Bronze in college then a free roll gold medal that you or I could have won.

I don't think any of these dudes should be in the Hall of Fame but if Richmond is in then the bar has been lowered to Iso Joes level unfortunately.

Memorable contributions to the game of basketball?

Which Johnson and Jamison really have neither.

Jamison is top 10 in terms of the best college careers of the last 25 years. Combined with his NBA stats, that should be enough. He was a great, great college player.
