Re: 2019 Draft Discussion
Any thoughts on who comes out on top and why?
My vote is for Reddish, Don't get me wrong, I love me some Zion Williamson. However, I just think that given Reddishs' shot, size and fluidity, should he start to put it together this season, definitely gives him a definite advantage in the long term over both Zion and R.J.....
Having said that, I'd of course be ecstatic with any of them. And truly hope that we just find ourselves in the top 4, if nothing else come the lottery,
If however we find ourselves outside the top 4, Then I strongly feel the next best prospects for us , outside of Williamson, Reddish, Barrett, or Little, would be best served regarding our needs defensively....
Bol Bol, Daniel Gafford, and for our point guard needs...Definitely Ja Morant (potential steal) outside the lottery .

I think Zion will probably be the pick. I think it might come down to Zion looking like a can't miss prospect (and probably is to some extent) but Reddish might be the guy with more translatable skills to the NBA as a 4 with his defense, passing and 3 pt shooting, all things that Zion kind of lacks. As for us, I would like Reddish as a small ball 4 to give us more passing, defense and shooting.
It's one of those things like last year. I was kind of hoping we got the 2nd pick, because I would have taken Doncic there (assuming Ayton went first) but also would have been fine with Ayton at #2. I wouldn't mind getting the #2 pick almost moreso than #1 so you take the default guy who drops, and in both cases it might end up being a better NBA talent who wasn't taken #1. Still lots of ball to be played though.

We need solid players who come in and do what's expected of them, like how we had Barbs, Duds, Lou, Goran, RoLo and Frye in 2010. Grab a few guys in that sort of ball park and it'll pay off so much. We don't need a world beater, we just need a better overall team.
Would be nice to find a PF who was a great defender, especially team defender, could protect the rim and also hit the 3. And then a defensive PG who was a good distributor and shooter. Even guys that don't wow you with numbers but still make a positive impact on the floor. Kind of like Bridges but with those attributes.
That would be nice,

Overview
The son of the late Manute Bol, Bol Bol is an insanely long and uniquely athletic player with very intriguing upside. He's filled out his frame over the past few seasons and is looking the part of an NBA lottery pick.
Strengths
Bol Bol has awesome height and length making him a force to be reckoned with in the paint. He should top out at well over 7 feet tall and maybe even reach the 7-7 height of his father Manute Bol.
He's a game-changer on the defensive end, swatting shots and altering every drive into the lane. He shows good awareness and decent timing as a shot blocker and does a good job of avoiding careless fouls.
He has surprising coordination and speed for a lanky youngster, and a developing offensive skill set. He can step out and shoot threes and has a nice release on his shot, which is nearly impossible to block due to his height. He handles the ball very well for a 7-2 player and has some SF skills. He can make plays in the open court, can find teammates off the bounce and can easily pass over defenders thanks to his height.
If he can continue to grow into his body and refine his skill set, he has a chance to be a really good NBA player.
Weaknesses
Bol is rail thin and needs to add a lot of muscle to hold his own at the top levels. He can get pushed out of the paint too easily and needs to do a better job of establishing and holding position in the lane.
He doesn't have great change of direction and kind of lumbers up and down the court.
Does he have the will to be great and a real love of the game? He'll have to play with more fire and intensity to reach his full potential.
Needs to develop his post game and not fall in love with the outside shot.
Comparisons
Reminds a little of Rik Smits or a poor man's Porzingis.
Projection: top 10 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft

Gafford came in as an unheralded recruit but has shown flashes of big time athletic ability and
impressive above the rim play, making him a likely lottery pick.
His length and leaping ability are truly special, allowing him to fly threw the air for highlight reel dunks and swat shots on the defensive end. He's a quick leaper who makes it look effortless.
Strengths
Athleticism/length - A very fluid athlete for a near 7-footer who glides up the court like a small forward and is a breath-taking leaper.Shot blocking and interior defenseUpside potential - Gafford is just starting to figure out how good he can be and is showing rapid improvement.Ability to draw fouls and get to the lineRim running in transition and dives to the rim in half court setsWeaknesses

Overview
An elite level prospect who has the potential to become a top five pick. Nigerian born player who is honing his craft in Texas, on his way to the NBA.
Strengths
Has excellent quickness and agility for a young 6-11 player and makes the game look easy and effortless. Is super smooth with his movements and blows by defenders in the open court with his long strides and great speed.
Can handle the ball in the open court and even bring the ball up to facilitate the offense. Plays multiple positions and has elite versatility.
Is as physically gifted as any player in the high school ranks. Can play above the rim with ease and is match up nightmare due to his ability to play just about any position on the court.
A solid rim protector who will become even better at defending the paint once he fills out his form and gets stronger.
Weaknesses
Still raw and undeveloped. Will have to continue to become a better outside shooter and work on his ball handling.
Must add a lot of strength.
Comparisons
Juwan Howard with some extra bounce. LaMarcus Aldridge.

That would be nice,Fortunately for us, should we not be able to find it in free agency, there's still the draft with a few perfect players that fit that description and team need. Best of all, these players would obviously be had for cheap whilst on their rookie contracts, allowing us to resign our core and still maintain some semblance of cap flexibility.

I don't want a big like that. Ayton should be in the middle. We need to find a 3D big...like Jaren Jackson, Serge Ibaka type. None of those guys can shoot.
Unfortunately there are not many in the draft. Reddish the best. Possibly Barrett. We will see how Zion progresses..of course we need a top 3 pick for any of those guys.
De'Andre Hunter maybe...great 3 pt shooter and great defender, though he's not a shot blocker... http://www.tankathon.com/players/de-andre-hunter
If we want to go PG and don't have a really high pick, check out this guy's numbers...ppg, assists, steals, blocks, fg%
http://www.tankathon.com/players/ja-morant
Only thing missing is 3 pt shooting but man, as good of a FT shooter as he is, that could probably come. Turnovers are high, but still over 2/1 assist ratio.

Have any of you heard of Ja Morant yet?....Well...You'll definitely be remembering his name as it gets closer to the draft!!!

He has the potential to be an absolute steal for us in this upcoming draft.

He's been compared to Russell Westbrook, but with better passing. He's 6'3 175lb. But super athletic, plays great defense, and has great court vision.
I'm a big fan of Okobo, and like Melton reasonably....But would take This point guard over both of them 10 times out of 10.
What are your thoughts on him, and we're you think he might land come draft time?

A triple-double last game. Not much info, but looks intriguing, with passing and defense supposedly a strength. Should be in Suns range as well.

Yes, I posted his numbers in a response to an earlier post of yours and said he would be a guy to watch if we still want a PG. You also don't have to use the youtube button anymore. If you just post the link it will show the video to click on to watch.

Re: 2019 Draft Discussion
Definitely tuning into Ja Morant against Alabama today. They're not as good as last year with Sexton, but they'll play him pretty tough on the perimeter. Shame he's at Murray State instead of a high major, Auburn and Alabama are pretty much the only major programs they'll play unless they get to the tournament.
Really impressed with Luguentz Dort at Arizona State so far. Very fluid and explosive athlete that's built like a tank and does a solid job on defense. He's hit his jumper so far, but his form could use a bit of smoothing out. Could see him ending up as a one and done.
Not loving the top of this draft outside of Zion so far. RJ's disappointed me with his play so far, Reddish has been a bit passive on offense, Little hasn't settled well at UNC yet, and none of the freshmen guards have stood out much (especially with Garland out).

He really needs to work on not turning the ball over so much tho.
Yeah, 10 turnovers usually not good. Averaging more than 2/1 ast ratio, or was. Also was shooting 28.6% from 3 prior to going 0-4 last night. I posted his tankathon link that will always have cumulative #s above to follow...I believe on Sat the 24th around 10 pm.

Where are you getting 28.6%...? Before last night he was shooting 42% and is currently at 35%, not that shooting percentages 4 games into a season mean much.
