Our highest paid player is French. We all know they love to surrender. (just kidding, French posters)

When was the last time we had a game winner? Was it way back when Chris Douglas-Roberts hit that weird floater?

That Lance game winner at home comes to mind.

I keep telling myself that there is basketball karma and one season we're going to win a ton of games that we don't deserve to win. Starting to get hard to keep believing that.

It's a real simple concept. Put yourself in the other team's shoes. You know exactly who is getting the ball and what he is likely going to do with it (drive to the rim). Put your best rim protector to double him in the post and Kemba just throws up awkward shots because there is nobody on the team that can be relied on to hit the shot. We gotta get another offensive star player to keep defenses honest.

our point differential is +4.5. That is 3rd best in the east and would be 4th best in the West.

You would think that since the one play we run in that situation doesn't usually work we might consider trying something different.

last 3 years, tied or trailing by 3pts or less...

last 2 mins
kemba 21-68, 30.8%

last min
kemba 12-45, 26.6%

last 10 sec
kemba 0-18, 0%
team 2-32, 6.3%

maybe its time to try something other than kemba playing 1v5 for the last shot... yes, his teammates suck, but its too easy for defenses to swallow up kemba when they know he isn't passing. 3 years, different coach, one constant is kemba taking 95% of clutch shots.

team stats, tied or trailing by 3pts or less last 2 mins...

2018-19 net rtg -22.9, 25% FG

2016-17 net rtg -30.3, 39% FG

Our net rating in these scenarios is 40 points better than last season and its still terrible...

Maybe we need a legit closer other than Kemba.

Based on those stats and on the last three seasons, I think you can take out the "other than Kemba" qualifier.

It's a really surprising stat for a guy like me who isn't following the Hornets. Maybe because I only watch the highlights when something epic happens?.. I just had this perception that the Hornets win the majority of close games because Kemba is extremely clutch.

Unscientific. We have no sample of his #'s with a #2. We only have his #'s without one. You can't make a comparison.

Kemba's numbers closing alone tell us he's getting pummelled and smothered.
