Bwest5 pointed out Bagley's last five games off the bench he is averaging 16 points, 10 boards, and 1.6 blocks on 54% shooting. The kid is going to be special.

Bagley looks good. The pre-draft talk about him not being a rim protector seems off. He gets to shots. I think Kings fans will be happy they made the pick in 2-3 years.

Yeah, I like Bagley too, was always pretty high on him. Doncic, JJJ and Bagley can definitely become All-Stars, and who knows what else. Maybe even the franchise player status is a possibility, with Luka I'm pretty sure it is. Also with JJJ and Ayton. Young's best games were remarkable also, but he is nowhere near as consistent as Luka, Ayton, JJJ or even Bagley.

I don't see any busts in the top 12. Pretty wild.

I was just thinking the same. How often does that happen? I was sceptical on Sexton and meh on SGA, but both have been very good. Then you have Mitchell Robinson and Allozo Trier exceeding everyone's expectations. What a great draft class this is proving out to be.
From the basketball's perspective, travel is a nice pause from being pounded to the floor.

I saw the Lakers:Orlando game yesterday and I am realy worried about Mo Bamba. He was never a good ofensive player, but yesterday he just looked lost on ofense.. It looked like he was on the wrong place the whole time. Hope he figures that out

If Knox didn't play for the Knicks and hadn't had a couple good games in summer league (which doesn't really matter that much) I don't know if we'd be saying that.

Re: 2018/19 ROY/Rookie Discussion Thread (Pt 2)
Just saw two interesting posts on Reddit that involve Ayton and Dončić, thought I'd post them here for people to see:
Ayton post -> credit to u/ergotpoisoning :
Seriously impressive stuff offensively from the kid. He's automatic within 3ft, shooting a ridiculous 78.4% on 116 attempts. The only player shooting better than Ayton at the rim is Giannis.
Giannis - 80.4% (152/189)
Ayton - 78.4% (91/116)
Gobert - 73.9% (99/134)
Capela - 72.7% (112/154)
Embiid - 72.0% (90/125)
AD - 70.3% (90/128)
LeBron - 70.1% (101/144)"
Very impressive stuff by Ayton, and on a very high 116 attempts, almost as many as Embiid and AD, looks great for the future. I just hope he'll eventually improve drastically on the defensive end, but he has plenty of time for that, he's already a big plus in overall terms even with his less-than-great defense.
//////
Dončić post about the most clutch players in terms of FG% -> credit to u/MaverickTopRun :
Top 10: 1.Victor Oladipo 63.6% 2.Luka Doncic 57.9% 3.Evan Fournier 57.1% 4.Giannis Antetokounmpo 53.3% 5.Eric Bledsoe 52.6% 6.JJ Redick 51.9% 7.Kyrie Irving 51.2% 8-9.Jimmy Butler 50% 8-9.Nikola Jokic 50% 10. Marc Gasol 47.8%
Min 25 Clutch Points
In the NBA, the term ‘clutch', is defined as "the plays that occur during the 4th quarter or overtime, with less than five minutes remaining, and neither team ahead by more than five points".
Good look for Dončić, I hope he keeps it me. Btw, I'm surprised to see Fournier so high -> if Bamba develops as well as one hopes he will and if they either keep Vučević or trade him for a great guard, that team might make serious damage in the East in the years to come!

Edited to add TS% for clutch time:
FG% consists of 2PG and 3PT field goals. TS% - 2PG and 3PT field goals and FT are all considered in its calculation.
Acc. to TS% Top 10 is similar. 1.Oladipo 84.2% 2.Reddick 68.5% 3.Doncic 65.9% 4.Butler 65.5% 5. Hardaway jr. 65.4% 6.Fournier 65.3% 7.Bledsoe 63.4% 8. Antetokounmpo 62.3% 9.Jokic 62.0% 10.Gasol 62% ....14.R.Jackson 59.7% 15.Griffin 58.8%.
Min 15 shoots attempted in the clutch.

Ayton somehow reminds me of rookie KAT. Don't know if that's a fair comparison? But considering how much KAT's defence is not-great&criticised, I really hope Ayton will develop more into a AD (at least a lite version), so into a great 2-way player, and not into a KAT-like player. I'm not that familiar with NBA history, even more recent one -> what were some great offensive big men rookies that later developed great defense? How "common" is it?

I've got a similar question. Who came in the league and was "known" to be a bad defender and later became a good/great one?

Re: 2018/19 ROY/Rookie Discussion Thread (Pt 2)
The funny thing is that as a college freshman and NBA rookie KAT was considered to be well ahead of the curve defensively (for example his college DBPM was higher than Jaren Jackson Jr's). The slippage occurred when he started to take on a bigger offensive role and no longer had KG to act as a coach on the floor for him.

JJJ averages for the past 5 games: (credit Peter Edmiston)
26mpg
14.2pts
3.8reb
2.0ast
3.4blk
60.4%FG
57.1%3PT
DRtg: 94.5
You'd like the rebounds to be higher and the blocks are helped by that 7block performance but still pretty solid numbers. Hopefully they start to run plays for JJJ especially later in the game even though he has one of the higher usages on the team. Conley needs more help though.

What is the explanation of people who watch him regularly about averaging same number of rebounds and blocks in 5 games ? He also had such games in college, which is pretty strange for a player with his measurements.

I liked Bagley as a prospect (that motor!) but didn't think he'd provide much in terms of rim protection.
There was a lot of talk about it being a weak one last year, as well.
