porter would be a terrible move in line with billy-king level stuff. 28-30 million long term for a guy who gives you 12 points a game and is at best a weakish smallball 4. id rather bring back crabbe at 10-12 million per year or dudley at dirt cheap per year or role with kurucs
at least harris is a legit very good to all-star calibur player. Porter has live on overhyping from having super high 3 point shooting will giving you next to 0 beyond that
I'm a huge Porter fan, I think in a non-toxic environment where he has room to spread his wings he could actually get you 18 a night... But I agree that the Nets should avoid trading for him.
Given how close we are to the Nets having significant cap space, and the roster decisions that will have to be made at the end of the year, there's no point in doing any move that is going to reduce the team's available cap space (until draft night at the earliest).
the problem with that is if porter is giving you 18 points a game the one thing he does well (efficient shooting) is very likely to come down. this is the same thing i said of crabbe when we signed and then traded for him... yes on the nets he will get more volume and chances to score... but more volule + more creating his own offense = lower shooting percentages.
