No but there's plenty of rumors about this Cano deal and sending them J.Bruce and them eating $10 mil per year of Cano's deal and us maybe getting them to throw in Diaz or Haniger and us maybe throwing in Gimenez and or J.Dunn and............................................................there's all sorts of rumors of this deal going down in some way.
You like?
If they take J.Bruce and eat $10 mil per of Cano's deal which would mean we would be paying him around $14 mil per for 5 years and we get one of E.Diaz or Haniger while adding Gimenez then i'm all in on that deal.
yeah its a really good deal for the mets.
considering
Cano has a 5 year 120 left on his deal
Right off the top Seattle takes 50 million off so it goes down to a 5 year 70 million dollar deal
Burce has 2 years 28 million left on his deal. So its a complete wash Cano for Bruce swap for the 1st two years of the deal (meaning the mets add no salary this year)...they would just be on the hook for Cano's last 3 years at 14 million a pop (which is a lot for a player that will be 38 at the time but 42 million over 3 years isn't franchise haulting.
Now take into account Gimenez would never be able to pry Diaz alone (arguably the most dominant closer in baseball last year with 3 years of control) and we make up the value there with the offset of Cano's money who is also a superior baseball player than Bruce.
So now the mets improved there everyday lineup and bullpen without spending a dime, so they should be able to add a few more pieces like a catcher, another high leverage RP, and maybe a CF.
