This needs to be repeated. I mean, we almost assuredly will never know for sure but if you look at this through the lens of who potentially benefits, it's Ernie. How do you think he's lasted so long? Control the narrative in the media and keep it away from himself. If the blame is on the players and he's the experienced guy to make things right then not enough people consider that it was him that made the mess in the first place. He'd prefer to keep the spotlight off of Brooks, too, because that isn't a mistake he can erase by sending out as much salary as he takes back, and frankly not enough attention has been paid to Brooks, either.

Crittenton doesn't solve those problems, though. He was here already and got a bunch of players traded while Ernie got a lifetime contract. I hear Ernie is trying to bring him back.
