Still a relatively young franchise though. But yeah, our history hasn't been very good. IMO, our best chance was back in early 00's when we had VC and Tracy. Likely would've made the Finals if we got past Philly that one series.

Our issue has always been about retaining talent though. McGrady wanted to go home to the dennies, our management and FO were horrible near the end of Vince's tenure, Bosh left for the big 3 era (don't really blame since BC built such shambling teams around him).

Masai and the FO are great now and finally looking like we're building a winning culture here, so hopefully that'll convince Kawhi to stay.

I would really like to see a franchise tag in the NBA so teams like Toronto have a chance to keep their best player ... and therefore have a chance to win. I can't imagine supporting a team knowing that the best players are always planning their exit. I mean we have the Marlins, but I stopped supporting them > a decade ago, and that's all on our crappy ownership, not the players.

Yeah hope Kawhi goes super saiyan mode later on so in the case where we do come out of the East, we have a shot against the Golden Snek Warriors.

Not too familiar with the specifics of the franchise tag since I don't follow the NFL, but if it helps smaller market teams and teams perceived as "unattractive destinations" retain their talent, then I'm all for it, contract!
