Do you think this would have any impact on the 2020 election? What are the chances the Senate could also flip? I think its all but certain the Dems take back the Presidency, no way Trump will win again. But the Senate would be the interesting piece imo

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXIII
This is America, folks...

Miami HeraldFor framing innocent black men, a Florida police chief gets 3 years in prison
Raimundo Atesiano, the former Biscayne Park police chief who directed his officers to frame innocent men for a series of unsolved burglaries, admitted he wanted to appease community leaders and polish the village's property crimes record.
Even in a small village of about 3,000 residents, the pressure was just too much, he said.
"When I took the job, I was not prepared," Atesiano told a federal judge on Tuesday. "I made some very, very bad decisions."
His apologies did not sway U.S. District Judge K. Michael Moore, who on Tuesday sentenced the 53-year-old former cop to three years in prison.
In September, Atesiano pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge of depriving the three suspects of their civil rights because he and the officers charged them without a legal basis. Atesiano's conspiracy conviction carried up to 10 years in prison.
Atesiano resigned from the Biscayne Park force in 2014 and previously worked as an officer for Sunny Isles Beach, Hialeah and Miami-Dade County Corrections.
Atesiano's sentencing ended an ugly chapter in Biscayne Park's recent history, where allegations of racism - the three men falsely charged are black - tainted the police department's culture of law enforcement in the mostly white community.
Village leaders, including Police Chief Luis Cabrera, a former veteran officer in Miami, say they have reformed the department.
Over the summer, three former Biscayne Park police officers who had worked under Atesiano while he was the chief in 2013 and 2014 pleaded guilty to civil rights violations stemming from the false arrests of the three suspects. All three ex-cops cooperated with the FBI and prosecutors Harry Wallace, Donald Tunnage and Trent Reichling in the hope of reducing their prison time.
In the continuing fallout from the scandal, Miami-Dade prosecutors said they will review old criminal arrests in Biscayne Park during Atesiano's tenure in 2013-2014.
In a report from that probe, four officers - a third of the small force - told an outside investigator they were under marching orders to file the bogus charges to improve the department's crime stats. While only one officer specifically mentioned targeting blacks, former Biscayne Park village manager Heidi Shafran, who ordered the investigation after receiving a string of letters from disgruntled officers, said the message seemed clear for cops on the street.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXIII
Man, Biscayne Park is a relatively quaint part of Northern Miami, you've got some real issues if you're willing to ruin people's lives over a string of unsolved burglaries.
On the other hand I find it quite disturbing that a community would manage to exert pressure on local law enforcement to the point where somebody in charge would feel compelled to stoop to such levels.
Just goes to show how spoiled people are in light of real issues that we're faced with as a society.

If you behave badly and are called out - oh well. It isn't a one time thing...
bull effing shxt!!
this entire thread is nothing but political spin.
from my very first post: "politicians are not choir boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Let it phurcking seep in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a dirty phurcking job, man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No one (side) will ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever be happy!!!!!! EVER!!!! It's not happening! it's not possible!!!
Trump is just the most scrutinized president ever. and its not even close. Perfect storm of social media, global superstar, and redicuclous narcisim with a desire to protect his original Brand (his name)...so he swing at everything. Every damn thing!! and the media covers it all. And the people follow it.
No one cared about Bush 1 or 2. Or really Clinton until he banged a coed intern. And no one cared about obama except that he seemd cool and is the first black president.
politicians are nothing more than dinner and a movie. Trump is a molly infused wild trip around the world...and thats before 3 pm. So they care! They cover him! They listen. They watch! They report!! and ohhhhhhhhhhhh, the outrage!!!!!!!!! Oh, that outrage, tho!!!!!!!
But the fact is that we do business with other NON choir boys!!! We need them! They need us!! We kill people. they kill people. We unfairly distribute goods and resources. They unfairly distribute resources. Its all complicated. And very difficult. and impossible to be fair. <--because politicians wont ever concede and make deals anymore...instead they complain away all day long so as continual negotiating tactic...which is really to energize their base. Anger their base. Drive their base to the polls. So...here we are...instead of politicians that make deals and solve problems, we have politicians that create problems and purposefully do NOT make deals. So no one ever feels satisfied.
^^^and the only reason its not fair is because politicians are easily bought off. <--both "sides" give in to the global elites!! Look at liberal NY!! They just gave $2.5 Billion tax to effing amazon!!!!!! yes!!! Amazon!!!! No backlash!!!!! its a corporate bail out to the wealthiest corporation to ever exist!!!!!!!! Ever!!!!
We could easily BOTH compete on a global scale and attract businesses to remain in the US so as to pay taxes to the US government AND distribute those tax dollars more fairly....AND promote self growth and motivate the individual to work hard to prosper. (aka not give away free stuff).
But we will always break some eggs to make the omelet. !! Always.
trump doesn't break any more eggs than anyone else. There is nothing Trump has done that others have NOT done just the same. Most other presidents have done far far far far far worse!! But none of them have had the magnifying glass on them like trump.
Fact is is UE is at record lows!! for all races!!!
fact is wages are rising for the first time in decades!!!
fact is more immigrants come in to the country now than in decades!
Fact is the country has never been in this good of shape in decades!!
Fact is he kicked ISIS butt in months!!
Fact is he gave everyone a tax break and Revenues are remaining the same.
Fact is he negotiating a better nafta deal for the american worker!!
Fact is stock market is still up 25% since he took office!!!!!
Fact is GDP is over 3% on the year and will be around 3.4% for the YEAR...something we have not seen in over a decade!!!
Fact is optimism both consumer and manufacturing is at record highs!!!!
fact is our credit markets are wide open!!! anybody can get a loan for anything!!!!!! (<--the real driver of the economy!!!)
And much more!!!!!!!
like i said, its a full rebuild.

i think it's tough to make heads or tails out of this election with respect to Mississippi.
on one hand, hyde-smith managed to eke out a very narrow victory (41% to 40%) when not even a month earlier Wicker won in a landslide 60%-40%.
on the other hand, it's a special election, 16% of the vote was cannibalized by another GOP candidate, and hyde-smith was a deeply unpopular candidate, plagued with controversy like her "hanging" comment and confederacy comments/pictures.
As far as big picture goes, the fact that Hyde-Smith won narrowly doesn't bode very well for Doug Jones in neighboring Alabama, who has to run again in 2020 and won't be up against Roy Moore - and as Hyde-Smith arguably proves, racism is not as great a dealbreaker as pedophilia.

A question for the hardcore Trump supporters (mainly SD20/Nate):
IF Trump perjured himself while answering Mueller's questions, does that change your opinion?
Just want to get everyone on the record.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I can understand that, I think part of the issue here is how unbalanced the ratio of liberals to conservatives are. There have been many of posts that are clearly biased and/or inaccurate from the liberal side, but we have what, only 2 maybe 3 ppl here to even attempt to give it a try.
His postings about the Obama administration using gas tactics at the border during their regime is not false or lies, that can actually be proven. But the issue being, Obama is like teflon and rarely ever gets criticized or called out. I get it the guy seems to be a good natured individual who has a bit of a cool factor, things we cant say about Trump, I can admit that, but he is far from mistakes, poor decisions.
You need to go back to the threads while Obama was POTUS - he took a lot of flack on specific policies. But he didn't/hasn't taken many hits for being a serial liar, tax cheat and philander. Those are hits Trump should take and Obama should not (IMO).
And yes, some irrationally defended some of the failed Obama policies then as SD does Trump now but not in such an egregious (straight lies) way.

What are the lottery numbers for the next powerball? Who's going to win the Super Bowl this year? Who's the next terrapin basketball player to have a cocaine/drug problem the school turns a blind eye to?
Since you seem to be able to see into the future, thought might as well get some clarity on some interesting matters.

I dont need to answer the question because I'm not a part of the group he referenced, I dont support Trump, i voted for him because of SCOTUS, there's a significant difference there. maybe after high school/college you'll see it

Yeah daoneandonly is just here for the civil discourse while he calls everyone who doesn't perfectly align with his stance on abortion a BABY MURDERER.
Anyway, I think he basically answered Wizardspride's question, which is that literally anything Trump does is fine with him as long as he gets those sweet sweet SC justices

I didnt call anyone a murderer, again you seem to have a struggle with semantics
I referenced them as part of the baby killing brigade, because they support the murder of a baby via abortion, but let me guess, being pro choice isnt inherently pro abortion. That sounds like the logic of someone trying to make their stance more palatable.
Actually I was fine with Trump being impeached if it meant at the time that either Pence or Paul Ryan would be POTUS, preferably the latter, so no, i dont all hail the chief like you do with Obams

Actually there is, you cant murder someone if you aren't a participant in the act or to an extent, legislate the laws that make it happen, but you can damn sure, as you've proven, support it without a 2nd thought. So those ppl arent murderers, they just condone it, the brigade
When it comes to baby murders in an abortion, as mentioned above, there are 2-3, the doctor, the mother, and likely the father. Then you can also lump the legislators that allow this sort of thing to happen by proxy.

Wait - you just switched subjects. First, you compared Trump and Obama as both serial liars - this just isn't true. Obama did have some lies - but not nearly at the rate of Trump. It isn't even close.
And Obama was called out earlier in this Political thread - early and often.
But with respect to SD - he constantly lies or promotes lies without fact checking. You can find the occasional accurate post. But in general he is treated with the respect he deserves given his propensity to ignore the truth.
