 Very sad day today. He made watching the Yankees tolerable for a Mets fan...

Very sad. He'll be missed in Yankee land, but also around baseball as you said.

R.I.P Phil.
Its crazy because I just was watching ESPN like 45 minutes ago, and I guess something happened with A-Rod last night (I was doing overnight work and couldn't watch the game) and the were poking fun at mishaps that happen at Yankee Stadium and one of them with Phil and them actually bringing a cow to him or something like that.

I obviously didn't get to see him play, but highlights of him kinda made me wish I did. Big loss in Yankee land, and never forgotten. We'll miss ya Scoot.

RIP, truely sad. The guy was funny, and one of the earliest memories I have as a Yankee fan is him announcing.

HOLY COW!! "Scooter" will be truley missed by the Yankee Nation as well as all of babseball. He was a heck of player and great man...its sad to see him pass, but its like Steinbrenner said, 'God must've needed a good shortstop."

I have a book all about the Yankees that I had signed by Phil about 10 years ago. He was a hell of a nice guy!

Phil was one of my grandfathers favorite players. And even though I was young I can remember hearing Holy Cow! during yankee games. As a player I played the same type of scrappy game as Phil. Im the same size (5'6) and was a leadoff hitter. I could bunt for base hits and steal bases. I was a center fielder but I was the same type of player. That is why I always respected him. R.I.P.
