Does anyone remember any rookie who had serious motor issues early and still had an All-Star level career? (Knox-related).

Wasn’t that Andre Drummond’s issue his first couple seasons

Tracy McGrady was pretty Lazy in Toronto to start out. Knox is one of the worst I have seen for a wing in a long time.

That's impressive but i don't really like these kind of stats and it's pretty convenient to leave out the rebounding numbers especially for a big.
I checked the first names that came to mind that did not make the 'cutoff'-
Hakeem was at 18 stls, 50blks, 472 pts and 231 rebs
Anthony Davis was at 19 stls, 38 blks, 271 pts and 166 rebs
JJJ have 89 rebs in his 1st 20 games.

I mean... that's fine. If you slightly lowered the parameters to include hakeem and AD that doesn't make it any less impressive.

JJJ had an off game last night. Got called for 2 fouls in the first minute and then never had a chance to really get it going the rest of the game since his minutes were spotty. Had a frustration foul at one point when he gambled too much just trying to make a play of some sort to get things rolling again. Also had a travel.

that's the first time i heard that. i've seen PLENTY of people saying ayton is ROY. im not sure why you act surprised every time someone says he's ROY either.
i think ayton has the lead but it's close. like i been saying for a while.. i think ROY is gonna go down to the wire. both are great rookies.
you better look at some rankings like, https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/nba-rookie-power-rankings-trae-youngs-shooting-still-an-issue-when-should-hawks-start-to-worry/ and bookies odds.
i think you should fam. i can play the same game
so clearly doncic is not running away with ROY like you claim he is. it's closer than you think. i rest my case
Arizona media who wanna push local player to the ROY !!! WHAT A SURPRISE!!
There was no doubt that Ayton would be a 20-10 right away, As Lamarcus Aldridge, Hassan Whiteside , Andre Drummond, KAT could have been doing the last 10 years, empty stats, no winning teams, no impact on the game apart from the stats.
Leaving Luka apart , i will say that the big man rookie race right now is
1 JJJ
2 WCJ
3 Ayton
4 Bagley
5 Bamba
With that being said , i have seen more from Bagley and Bamba than in Ayton as a impact players.
Ayton is bad in defense, to the point of being a liability every single play. He is outdated,he would have been great 10 years ago.
What makes AD , Embiid, Duncan, Shaq, Robinson so great was that their presence on the court made the other team changes their gameplan either in offense and in defense.
Ayton doesnt change a single play on the game.
Can he score? YES,
does he requires a double team ? NO
So he is not a facilitator, he is not a defensive presence, he is not a player who need a gameplan.
He is a pick and pop & lob player. A good one actually, he is going to be in the league 20 years.
FAR AWAY OF BEING A BUST.
The big problem with him is that
He is not good enough to be a 1º sword.
He is so bad in defense to not be a good 2º sword.
& He is going to ask a Max contract as a 20/10 player that he is.So Big overpay for a 3º sword.
That´s my only hate on Ayton, he is a "" tweener "" in the construction of a winning team.
I would love him in my team , as the 4-5º better pay player, knowing his role, status and contract.

It's evident that you haven't seen him play at all.

I have listened to this like 50 times since it hit my timeline yesterday.
So wonderfully done.

I won't lie I've grown a little tired of the Luka talk (one of the reasons I haven't posted that much on this thread). But ya this was just done so well. So funny, great little points in it as well. I'm with you I've listened to it so many times. Well done Ringer.

I won't lie---I'm not.
But I almost certainly would be if he played on another team. It's just that since Cuban broke up the championship team to chase fairy tales and rainbows there hasn't been any reason to be excited about the Mavs.
But yeah even Luka haters should be able to appreciate their work on that song.

I'm a big Luka fan, had been following him for a while and he was #1 on my draft board. I love that he's doing well, I always especially enjoy international prospects doing well because it benefits the game/league as a whole to have more international stars.
That being said, I am a bit tired of people crowning him ROY this early in the season. Yes he's leading but not by some insurmountable gap. It's gotten to the point where other players are being unfairly put down to prop Luka up - which is 1. pointless and 2. just simply not fair.

^^Who's criticizing Ayton and JJJ? I only read praise about them, it's just that Luka is awesome, and as a perimeter player with a game that's easy on the eye, and being a playmaker, he has an extra advantage. It's not his fault that playmakers and wings are put on a pedestal (which is true).

It's also the intangibles. None of the other rookies lead their team. Luka is the Mavs MVP and after tonight we have a winning record. Furthermore he's super clutch and just steps up when he's needed with big big plays.
I think add that to the fact that you could give him ROY based on stats alone it makes it a pretty big distinction between him and the other good rookies.

yeah I'm never a fan of that. This is looking like a really strong rookie class. We can enjoy all of them.
