No more excuses for Otto he needs to figure it out on his own without the lovechilds (homer fans) input.

3rd pick overall and a 100MM contract for 12 points a game.
Yea he's a bust. I don't care about RPM, BPM, REM, MPG, or whatever 3 letter acronyms that get thrown out there.

Steven A Smith is driving the bus to run over Otto Porter. Ernie Grunfeld and Brooks get free ride.walker9 wrote:Sorry to say, but dude hasn't improved or taken the next step to be like a 20 point scorer.

What?
This kid, Otto Porter, he seems like he could be a nice person....
But Ernie, he's just not DOING like Scottie Pippen. Can Porter be good...I mean great like Kawhi Leonard"...?

Re: Is Otto Porter a bust?
No. Porter is SELFLESS and he is 25 years old.
I'd trade Wall and Beal before Otto.
Last season, when people on this board were basically not hugging John Wall (what's up, Dat2U? All in good fun w MUCH respect)...I said i like Gortat and Porter BETTER than the starters at Gs.
Porter went to Poland with Marcin a while back. SELFLESS people who are not ball hogs or ego driven, both. They play the right way but BOTH DEFER and NEITHER ARE GREAT ATHLETES...
Beal is a very good athlete. Wall is a terrific athlete. In clutch time? Anticlimactic and neither do succeed at much more than precisely taking a contested isolation FGA.
Porter didn't bring in Jeff Green. He didn't make Oubre contract year shot jack scenario. He did not hire Scott Brooks. He did not make MARKIEFF MORRIS a favorite of Wall and Brooks over himself.
Otto Porter did not hire Scott Brooks....
He didn't trade his favorite teammate, MG.
He did not ever make the Wizards like a bunch of vipers in a pit together. Was gonna say a bunch of snapping Turtles...
Porter GAINED WEIGHT and that's not always conducive even if muscle to improve a slender player.
LAST: 20 GAMES IS A QUARTER of one season. Media screw-tinee...is blaming errrbody but sorry ass EG and Brooks.

Re: Is Otto Porter a bust?
Porter's no bust. He's a good player. He isn't an allstar or anything but he's no bust. He's a quality player that good teams need who happens to be paid a bit more than he's worth, which tends to happen when players hit free agency in the NBA because rookie contracts and max salaries restrict the earnings of a rather significant number of players on the market.

Re: Is Otto Porter a bust?
No He is not a bust if you are talking about draft expectations.
He is overpaid, especially in context of the current situation the Wiz find themselves in....but that is different than a bust.
He is NOT a PF or stretch 4.
He is NOT a 3rd option.
He is (best used as) a low usage, high efficiency, really good, starting 3&D SF that championship level teams need.

Re: Is Otto Porter a bust?
He was drafted 3rd, it is hard to make the case he is worse than 6th best in the draft class.
Giannis Antetokounmpo - clearly better, but was a risk at the time
Oladipo - a little more uneven, but also picked 2nd, so no shock he could be considered better
Gobert/Adams - I would put these guys on a similar tier - but in today's NBA I would rather have a PF than a Center
McCollum? - I think at this point it is a wash at worst, maybe last season McCollum was better, but Porter has been good for 4 seasons vs. 2

He isn't playing up to the level of the max extension he got , that's the main issue at hand. But he's a good player.
This pretty much. "Bust" is strong language. He's just struggling this year. Coincidentally the Wizards are struggling.
I think he plays better when starting at SF (he can shoot over smaller players, get into a rhythm). And then when we go small ball he's got his jumper warm. Thats just my opinion and how I think it went last year/year before.
Obviously we sucked earlier this year, but Otto has only had maybe one great game since we changed the starting lineup, right?
Pick your poison situation. Starting Otto at PF and having him focus on PF things is better than starting Morris and having him play mostly with the first unit. Our record since the switch clearly indicates this.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

This this this.
But again to reiterate, pick your poison. Until we magically get a starting level PF that rebounds, defends, hits open shots, then there is no choice but to start the small ball lineup.
