Klay Thompson is high praise...dont disagree that Bridgea would've fit, but I'm not sure he is at Klay's level at either end of the court.

He's already a better defender than Klay. Klay is overrated on defense.

Ok...I'll take your word for it...

Imagine this:
PG Redick
SG Butler
SF Bridges
PF Simmons
CE Embiid
We would be set. Bridges is as advertised. Right out of the gate a very good 3&D player. I see Klay Thompson type of upside, with lesser shooting volume, but better defense. There's a reason every damn team in the league is starving for these types of players.
And if they knew they were trying to trade for a star, they likely figured having that Miami 1st could be a huge trade chip to throw into the pot on top of things.
Yeah I figure they had to think they would need the pick to get a star, to get one without giving up the pick is icing.
Bridges would be nice to have, but its all hindsight. I would love to have Giannis right now too.

Oh and a better defending Klay Thompson is a max contract player. I do not see that in Bridges.
It was a difficult trade to value.
Good prospect + unprotected 1st > Good prospect.
Mikal's shooting should be very good, but Zhaire could be very impactful, too. Zhaire is a very good cutter and help defender.

Sorry - are we talking about the Zhaire trade or the Fultz trade?

Unfortunately, it works for both.

Got to imagine he's fully healed. And Brett was jonesing for him manning the perimeter D on camera just a couple of weeks ago. They won't rush hm, but they won't dawdle neither.

Probably a while. I'm guessing the next update will be something along the lines of the Patton update (doing some light contact) then another one ramping up to full contact, then scrimmaging, then finally playing.
I'm somewhat confident we'll see him play a bit this year (I'm Charlie Brown to the Sixers' rookies' Lucy). I wouldn't expect him to play an important role though. I expect he'll get into some blow outs, maybe play a little more in the last game or two of the season if we have a seed locked up.

Sadly, that will probably be the same playing schedule(minus the G league part) for last years number one pick, who is NOT coming off an injury.

Yeah, I liked the trade in principle (Mikal Bridges for pick plus mid-teens pick) and wasn't that cold on Zhaire as a pure prospect, but was pretty upset about trading for him of all the option there. Would've been great to get someone we were pretty confident would be a contributor, and Zhaire strikes me as very much a wildcard given his skillset and his style of athleticism (which is awesome but sort of that raw flubber running/jumping power). All these guys have uncertain outcomes, though, and I don't want to overstate the 'sure thing' vs 'risk-reward' player, hasn't worked out like we expected all the time. (It was also tough to let SGA pass, even if he's not a great fit and definitely isn't a surefire killer or anything.)

Zhairie's upside is much higher than Mikal ever dream

Don't think anyone would ever argue with that. What were you trying to say?

Maybe. Fultz has great upside too. Until he gets on the court and shows he can do it in NBA games, upside doesn't mean squat.
Bridges is already a solid contributor.

Dude is a competitor, he is not a mental midget, so there is no comparison to Fultz. Remains to be seen if he really has high upside in terms of skills.

Yeah it's been so long I kind of forgot about that. He's got a wide range of skills. Shame that injury/allergy issue kept him out so long.

I prefer him just rehabbing this whole season and then coming back next season. I’d love for him to explode next year and win the ROY with a bunch of people being salty about it like they were when Simmons won it.
