GT Jazz at Hornets, 11-30-2018 7:00

Post#1 » by euphorbus » Thu Nov 29, 2018 1:55 pm

The Jazz are 10-12, the Hornets 11-10. Deceptive records, given the big difference in quality between Western and Eastern Conferences this year, and for the past decade.

I had hoped for eight or nine wins in November. If the Hornets can pull this off--and it helps they are playing at home--they will be 8 for 14 in November. Right now, they are in the thick of the playoff hunt. The team usually does not play its best until after the All Star break. With a new coach and exciting young players, they should keep improving into the heart of the season.

Can we put Kidd-Gilchrist on Donovan Mitchell, or is it too soon after his return from injury?

It looks like Monk will be out with a deep quadriceps bruise. It should clear up in a few days, though.

I'm glad it doesn't seem to be too serious, he needs his reps for development. More opportunity for Bacon in the meantime.

ultimate hindsight move, imagine instead of trading for Batum we just signed Ingles.
Utah signed him for $4.5mill over 2 years in the same off season we made the trade. Maybe drafted Lavine instead.

We would’ve drafted Lavine and tried to make him a PG to replace Kemba rather than to play SG alongside him. FYI I was big on drafting Lavine that year.

Ingles would’ve never reached his full potential in Charlotte because we would’ve played him as MKG’s backup SF. Clifford only played players with preceded reputations.

probably, but who knows, he might have ended up Sg like Batum did.

Gonna be a fun game. The next few games against four teams in the west playoff race will be a good litmus test for the team's progress.

We need an Aussie on this team. Utah has an extra in Dante Exum, they should trade him to us. He's been awful this year anyway, and we could use another perimeter defender. Maybe playing in his Dad's home state close to family would be good for him?

Here's hoping for some post-trade integration issues...

Lol, we are literally going to get destroyed. Utah is our team on steroids.

Utah has not been all that this season. Mitchell has had something of a sophomore slump, Rubio and Crowder suck again, and it looks like Ingles and now Korver are the only people on the roster that can hit a three at a passable rate. They are 28th in 3P%, which of course means they will go 17-30 tonight and spark a 12 game win streak

Rose scored 50 against the Jazz. Kemba is going to break out of his slump tonight.

Look at the schedule though. They've faced much stiffer competition than us. Kemba always has trouble with lots of length on the floor except when they are inexperienced like Philly.

I was at this game. It's my most unforgettable moment as a fan. This isn't the same Utah team. They played Raul Neto and Trey Burke at PG for all 48 minutes of regulation and 2OT.

And yet Derrick Rose still dropped 50 on them THIS year. If Rose can do it so can Kemba.
