I don't have Insider.

What is the TL;DR version? Specifically, does the article shed any more light on the trade kicker and how it's a poison pill?

And why is the trade window closing, other than his cap hit jumping from $18M to $37M? (And that may not be such a problem given how many teams with max cap room who may strike out on the few max-caliber talents out there.)

2019 SAC 1st round pick - only conveys if #1 pick
2021 MIA 1st round pick - unprotected
Zhaire Smith
Furkan Korkmaz
Mike Muscala
Wilson Chandler
Jonah Bolden

Sixers get the perfect fit to complete their starting lineup and add a potential sixth man in Sato as they go all in and high IQ chemistry pieces to surround their top heavy big 3. They also get to keep Fultz to use as an asset to fill other needs.

Wizards take a flier on Zhaire Smith who fell to the rookie curse that has caused multiple 1st round picks of theirs in recent years to miss the entire season. But the real prize is the Zion lottery ticket with has a small chance of hitting and the Miami pick which is probably the most prized and likely to be actualized asset.

Very imaginative, Dat!! Seems like it would work better for us if it included McConnell instead of either Korkmaz or else Bolden, as he would be our backup PG.

edit: It certainly makes Philly a contender to win the East. A great trade for them.

Spicy turd that is...

Porter is worth more than a salary dump.

The Wizards not taking Felicio's deal with 2 years left on it just to dump Otto.

Most Wizards fans believe Otto is worth more than a salary dump - which this really isn't because we'd be stuck with Felicio.

Worst case, they hold onto him in an attempt to rehab his value.

Maybe instead of Porter they'd take Rivers & Mahinmi? :)

I'd figure they'd want to keep McConnell because he can play alongside Sato off the bench.

For us, this would the first move to solidify our 2019 tank. :D

To me it's a very strong move for Philly as well. This may be trade board worthy!

Another interesting framework of Wiz and Rox

To Houston:
Otto
Oubre
Rivers

To Wiz:
Knight
Gordon
Chriss
Melo
Hartenstein
Picks

We immediately waive/trade Melo and Chriss, but this gets us right at the Lux tax (we cut 8M in salary). I'd actually see if any team would take Chriss with a TPE and get us out of the salary.
It also gets us an interesting lineup if we keep Beal, or a nice replacement for him if we trade him.

Rockets get the PERFECT wings to pair with Harden and CP3.

The question is, how many picks would it take to balance out the trade, 2? 3?

McConnell is a more useful, productive player by far than either Korkmaz or Bolden. Hence, he wouldn't contribute as nicely to a tank. Of course... just don't play him much! :)

I'd definitely be interested in how this proposed trade did on the trade board! Might be worth proposing that we get that Sac'to '19 pick no matter where it falls. See how Sixers fans respond.

I don't see it from Houston's perspective.

The issue is Eric Gordon. He was extremely valuable for them last year, giving them a secondary threat to create shots alongside either Harden or Paul. I would think they would value Eric Gordon (at least the Eric Gordon of last season) more so than Porter. And if that's the case, they're giving up a whole lot just to get Oubre.

This only makes sense if you believe that Eric Gordon is going to continue to shoot 29% from 3-point range like he has so far this season. And if that's the case, then do WE really want to do this?

Finally, Houston is already over the tax. Taking on $8M in extra salary is going to cost them another $22M in luxtax fees.

I can't imagine wanting any of the Houston players you're taking. Plus, Knight/Gordon/Hartenstein combine to earn over $30m next year.

I'm sure there are people here who think Eric Gordon is a good player ("XX points per game! wow!"). He's not.

I don't think there are enough picks to "balance out" this deal.

Sounds good to me. That Miami pick is turning out to be a much higher pick than I would have guessed - they're 7-13. Blame it on the Butler trade rumors. Sato would be a great pickup for Philly.

Looks like the Kings want to make a play for Porter (he would actually fit their style of play very well).

What would a trade need to look like? They don't have their first round pick next year.

Porter/Mahimni for Randolph/Shumpert/Koufos and Sac's 2022 first round pick?

Yeah, the real problem is a team with CP3, Harden, Otto, and Capela have a REALLY high floor and I dont think any pick would be higher than 25 for the foreseeable future.
I was just throwing trades out there.

Kings still make too much sense for us for a number of trades. They could use a wing a a stretch 4/5, which is why Oubre & Morris would be perfect... but i guess we'll see

Spurs have Pop, LMA, and Derozan for the next 2.5 years... Seems like Otto fits their team and timeline PERFECT.
Something with Pau, Bertans, and a pick seems like a good foundation.

I don't see the Kings giving up a pick AND taking Mahinmi, seems to me it would be one or the other. But if they'd go for it, sure I'd make that deal.

Still do it if they substituted multiple 2nd round picks for the first? They have a bunch of 2nd round picks...
