So about Fultz
I been watching this Markelle Futz situation that doesn't seem to be going anywhere at the moment. The Pacers rarely have the opportunity to snag a top 3 draft talent, (besides Oladipo and Evan Turner, but yeah). Our point guard position for the future seems up in the air, despite some solid early looks for Holiday. Do we have anything they would want? Would they take DC+FRP? Add Leaf? Something else? That's gotta be a better offer than the ancient Korver and protected pick that the Cavs reportedly offered. What about Evans?
They need shooting and they gotta be thinking this year is the opportunity to show they are a force in the post-Lebron Eastern Conference. What would you offer?

DC+Leaf+1st 2019... thats fair enough... Fultz is potential bust if he doesnt improve his shooting...

Re: So about Fultz
I'd offer Evans when he can be traded after 12/15 provided Fultz agreed to talk to Andrew Luck and his Doctors. no way I offer two players and a pick.

I'd take the gamble if all it took was some combination of DC, Evans, Leaf, and 2nds. Probably wouldn't do a first at this point though.

Evans alone is a legal trade per the checker and his number is bigger than Fultz'. Unless Philly has a bunch of cap room, I'd assume adding more players would unbalance the deal but I'm not going to take the time to run the checker on a bigger deal.

Obviously it would be either DC or Evans and Leaf makes little enough that they could jsut add in Patton I believe.

I'm not ready to give up on Leaf and just have him be salary filler in a deal that can take filler coming the other way. I would do some kind of pick swap though either moving down this year or giving up this year's pick for an additional first next year.
I am not in a hurry to trade any of our five starters particularly since all of the expiring deals give us flexibility next summer already. I'm also happy with the second unit other than Evans. CoJo, Doug, Damos, and Holiday are keepers and we have Sumner and Alize in waiting. I am so disappointed in Evans though that I'd trade him for the proverbial bag of wet noodles and so I'm quite willing to take on a likely bust like Fultz gambling that there is shoulder rehab knowledge in town that could get his problems solved.

I'm probably in a similar boat, though I could honestly care less about Leaf. I think he still has potential to be something, but I've already chalked that pick up as a miss and realize that Philly would need some sort of incentive coming back other than an expiring vet guard.
Biggest thing for me with Fultz is that I think we have the right environment for him to succeed provided its mental issues and not nerve damage. Vic would be probably the best star player to help him that I can think of and the organization is pretty well versed in helping players work through issues.

Edmund Sumner is 6'5" very athletic and his shot isn't broken. Wondering if at this point he is a better prospect?

Re: So about Fultz
Leaf wouldn't necessarily just be a salary filler. He plays a position they need, and while he hasn't necessarily proven himself at the NBA level yet, his best attribute...shooting....is something that they really need.

I don't want to help a conference rival that much.

Yeah like I said, he would be small incentive. His value is about a 2nd, maybe, though. It's early and he still has a chance to make a career for himself, but I'm still calling that pick a miss at this point. And that's not because of who we could have had there with revisionist history, but just because he hasn't been useful in any sense to date.

Re: So about Fultz
I'm definitely not giving up a 1st for Fultz. That's the kind of risk for a repair that we might not be suited for, nor might it be possible to even repair him. Is it just the shoulder? Is it the whole arm? Is it mental? Is it a combination of all? There's just no basis for recovery like this I've ever seen in basketball. He's infinitely more likely to be Anthony Bennett than he is even a John Wall.

Leaf's stretch 4 role has effectively been taken over by Bojan/McDermott. And that's kind of his problem, I think. He's more of a 4/5 when most guys playing the "faux forward" role are big SFs really. His best position should probably be stretch 5, but alas, the Pacers have plenty of options at the 5 already.
That plus he's rather raw, but he's still pretty young and I think he'll be a rotation guy eventually. I'm just not sure it would be on the Pacers.
As for Fultz, I also think it's a worthwhile gamble since the Pacers have a good track record with reclamation projects, who tend to be either late bloomers or difficult players. Oladipo of course is the most recent example, but there's also earlier guys like JO and Artest and Jalen Rose. And even some guys like Hibbert or Lance who have never played well outside of the Pacers. Whatever it is the Pacers do, they seem to be doing it right.

I would NOT give up a 1st round pick for Fultz. Maybe DC, but not a pick....no way.

if I'm giving up DC or CoJo, I'm talking to Phoenix who desperately wants a point guard. if they think Evans is a point guard, that works too.
