I really don't know what some people are watching. He is a better athlete than Schroeder.

I don't think that's a super controversial ranking for either. That's not where I would have them personally, but I don't think it discredits them to have those guys ranked where they are.

I'm sorry, I might understand Langford, but if this is a big board, Sekou shouldn't even crack top-15.
If its a mock draft, I agree some team might take him in the lottery, but even assuming that, 8th is a high as he could go even if teams are reaching.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

Yeah, gotta agree to disagree on that one, and I don't think it's particularly close

I have him outside of the lottery at the moment as well, but warranted or not, he had a lot of hype before the college season started as high as a top 5 pick. I don't think any major outlet is going to drop him too quickly.

Agree to disagree, to me Schroeder is obviously quicker/faster downhill, but everything else stands out in favor of Morant.

This dude deserves his own thread. Averaging 27/8/8 on 56% from the field (6 TOs, though). I'm not sure what to make of him as an NBA prospect, but I want to watch him play. He is wild.

Worth considering his 7.4 assists to 2.9 TO's last season (per 40). I think he's just in over his head usage wise this season.

Keeping an eye on his 3 ball as well, outside of the one game he hit 6, he has not shot well from outside the arc.

And of course, defense should be constantly monitored. I'm not expecting much with the load he's carrying but just some better awareness/IQ would be a major step in the right direction.

Thing you have to remember with Sekou is he's not even 18 y/o yet and while he's definitely raw he has NBA size and length already plus a tantalizing combination of power, speed, and skill for his legit NBA size. You can't look at a kid like this and judge him for who he is now. That's what so many did with Giannis. And like with Giannis it will take some time for him to develop. He's got a pretty high floor but a superstar ceiling. That's why he should still be considered top 5 if not higher. It'll depend on the team's needs and timeline and how he measures. You don't think ATL, should they have two top 7-8 picks would take him with their 2nd choice? Or a team like PHO who doesn't have a big wing in their stable? He's going lottery, likely top 10 and maybe top 3 if he grows and measures well.

Sekou isn't a wing and doesn't project as such, at all, also his skill level is not impressive for his size or age really
Looking at everything prospect with size and african roots and thinking Giannis is just dumb, esp if you haven't bothered watching the kid and/or Giannis at the same age (you clearly haven't from your comments)
I agree with the bottom line about Sekou been worth a lotto pick and your premise is fine, but getting there by just paralleling his situation with Giannis or his upside, it's ridiculous

People are so superficial when it comes to evaluating athletic packages, it's unreal

I'd love to hear your thought process on how you evaluate athleticism. How do you balance athletic traits like body type, height/wing span, quick twitch vs slow twitch, vertical athleticism, lateral athleticism, functional on-ball athleticism, functional strength, deceleration/acceleration, quick leaping ability, shiftiness/wiggle, functional vertical leaping ability, quick feet, etc?

I think he's on the outskirts of consideration, especially if we fall a few spots. He's more of a trade down a handful of spots sort of target for me.

There's a lot of areas he needs to improve upon to prove a good fit with Lavine.. needs to bulk up as much as possible, improve his defense, and continue to show development in the jumpshot. I would also like to see how Dunn goes this year, I think we should lean towards an SF this year. I would take all of Barrett, Reddish, Little, Porter, Hunter over Morant right now I think. That could change, but hey, if Dunn struggles, maybe we can trade down, get an SF and pick Morant or something.

It's also pretty early, and the whole tier under Zion is pretty changeable. I might change my stance later this season.

I don't see that at all but people gotta remember that this is a pretty weak draft. Probably a bunch of starters and just be happy you get that. I get looking forward the future but Sekou is alot more Josh Smith than Giannes. Hes not that level of a playmaker/ ball handler that Giannes is.

Would he be a good fit with the Wolves? Think wolves should trade their vets and get into the 5-7 range to take him

I think I like him as much as I liked Sexton and Gilgeous-Alexander last season.

Still have Garland better than all four, though.

No real reason why he shouldn't be at least #2 overall player on most PG needy teams big board.

He is like a not as fast but more skilled version of Fox at UK. That's a no brainer for me if I am PHX, ORL, or any PG needy team.

if I had to rank the the PGs the last 3 drafts I had/have them like this:

Smith Jr. (not looking for me right now)
Fox
Garland
Morant
Sexton
Gilgeous-Alexander
Ball
Young

This would also double as a most athletic PG list outside of Garland.

Personally I'd go:

DSJ
Ball
Sexton
Morant
Fultz

For my top 5. HM to Fox at 6.
