He's still one of the best rookies, and arguably the best, and is young, has a good attitude and his learning and it will take time. Sometimes it's frustrating after watching in college and losing games because guys constantly had layups at the rim, and still seeing it, you just hope these things improve quicker, but obviously it won't be overnight.

But the bad record brings out a lot of negativity, be it against the draft pick, coach, GM, owner, Jackson, Booker, etc.

There is a lot of negative Ayton talk on twitter, other boards, etc.

Nah... Luka, JJJ then Ayton. No advance stat will convince me otherwise because i am actually watching games from all of them. Ayton has ways to go to even catch JJJ but that's for the future to decide.

On the other hand, i do feel Suns fans from all over the place are a bit rough on him. Yes, he deserves the critique, that's the curse from being nr1 pick, but still, it's not his fault he was picked nr1. Almost no one, outside Suns orga ( and Gambo ), had him locked at nr1, most "experts" had him even outside top3.
But my point is, calling him transvestite and other silly things is still not appropriate. I think he'll be a long work in progress. At this point i am only hoping he can reach Dwight Howard ( ORL ) type of status, but he'll have to show us all that he is willing to throw his body into the fire in order to carry this franchise forward like Howard did back then. Ayton is already a far far better shooter than he was, but gets tired really quickly and is often running away from any serious contact down low.

I can see arguments for each of the 3 players, but they are also playing in different circumstances. JJJ benefits from playing with Gasol who can play inside or out, and have a great PG in Conley. I doubt he would look as good with the Suns. And Ayton would look better playing with Conley passing, him and a C who was an ex DPOY candidate and now is a great passer, and can spread the floor and shoot 3s.

Doncic is playing under a seasoned coach and teammates who know the system, have played together, have a number of vets and PGs, and one of the best players of all time...the best euro of all time to help mentor him.

The Suns have a new coach, system, the most roster turnover in the NBA, the youngest team, etc.

I'm not going to mask my disappointment in selecting Ayton...I essentially knew very little of him in college...but remember the wildcat fans who were very skeptical... their lack of motor comments are ringing true. Sure, he is a talented scorer, but he lacks fire and desire. He's lost. You think that will change ? I hope with more time and coaching, things will come together. But I doubt he will ever be rated as a high BBIQ player and certainly doubt he'll ever gather an intense demeanor. He is already accustomed to losing and often is jovial in the aftermath. Its not like this organization hasn't whiffed on draft picks before. Sheandre wont be a bust... but he wont be the best either.

So people just need to relax and give a chance to Ayton to do his own improvements before making fun of his deficiencies.

And talking about D he is actually better 1-on-1 defender than Doncic, who I have seen blown by Marcus Morris. He is already proclaimed as a great winner, but how do you see him defending a PF like Giannis, or a SF like Durant/Kawhi, or an elite PG in a playoff game ?

Bottom line, both of them are great offensive players, but will get exposed on defense, so their success is mostly depending on what players they are surrounded with.

Differences

1) Doncic at 18 was playing against 30 year olds and getting it done
2) Ayton at 18 was playing against 18-20 years olds and had a questionable motor
3) Would rather have had Doncic with a defense center like Holmes to cover his weaknesses than a non-rim protecting center.
