Is the time right to move Kennard in a deal?
Just don't see this guy being the right fit for Casey's system given his apparent passion for defense. I also have noticed that whenever Kennard's name is mentioned concerning his return from injury that Casey is not overly excited to run him back out there. I may be wrong but with the team performing extremely well without him, should Kennard be moved in a deal for an improvement at the 2/3 or even a solid backup 4/5. If Blake or Drummond go down this team is toast. I also think that Casey has a great deal of confidence in Galloway and Bruce Brown's defense. The fact is, Kennard would definitely bring a solid player in return given his ability to shoot and his low salary. Should the Pistons go "all in" for this season and mortgage a future piece that in reality does not appear the new regime likes all that much? Thoughts?

Keep him unless used in a big trade or something.

I think it's the right time to put Kennard into the starting lineup and bench GR3.

I doubt the right time to trade Luke is when he's only played in a handful of games this year.
if anything the right time to trade anyone is Stanley.. but I don't exactly want that to happen

Came to say this. Kennard/Galloway at the 2-guard, Bullock/Johnson at the 3-spot. Brown and GRIII get spot minutes depending on the match-ups.
If Kennard's defense is a real concern, put him in the second unit with Brown and Johnson.

I want to see how he plays, he was looking real good before he got injured. I would trade him if it was for Bradley Beal or some all-star wing/guard.

We've won the past 5 games because we've been at home. When you see Stanley choking hard again playing away you'll understand how important kennard will be. Galloway can turn off at any point, you gotta get kennard in there. Also for the right deal I'd definitely trade him. Issue is Jackson looks good out there. We'll see the real team when we play away. This month will be telling of what our players values are in the league.

Not sure why we would bench GR3. He may not be scoring but the starting unit looks much better with him out there. We have 4 guys looking for shots in the starting group and GR3 fits well. I think his current role is perfect. Starts both halves and rarely plays otherwise. Like zaza/mcgee used to do with the Warriors

Wonder if Kennard and Jackson would get us Dragic or George Hill.

I think now is the time to move Reggie Jackson. We won’t, but it’s the right time

Moving Kennard now would be selling low.
So no, definitely not. Keep him and hope that he comes back and gives us the shooting help we need. You're not going to like the offers we'd get for him at the moment.

Re: Is the time right to move Kennard in a deal?
Kennard is our only in-house hope at vaulting to a legit contender really. I want to see what Casey can get out of him.
I wouldn't trade him for a bench big or anything like that. I'd trade him for a star "now" 2-guard on a good contract but why would the other side do that. We're hoping that is what he can be. I think he could be our #2 option offensively if he comes comfortable, confident and looking for his own shot.
Maybe it was an optical illusion of playing against smaller players in the G-League, but Kennard looked noticeably bigger in the highlight video - I think that could go aways into improving his defense. He'll never out-quick anybody, but if he did add bulk it will help him from getting out muscled.

Re: Is the time right to move Kennard in a deal?
Would you guys trade Reggie Jackson + Kennard + a couple 1st rounders for Bradley Beal? I wonder if Washington would bite. I'm not too worried about losing Jackson since Blake is our de-facto point forward. The starting role could be 'by commitee' between Bruce Brown and Jose Calderon.
PG: Brown/Ish
SG: Beal / Galloway
SF: Bullock / Johnson

Issue being Washington would have no use for Jackson as long as they're forced to keep Wall. Regardless I think they could get better offers. Jackson is coming off two injured seasons and not back to where he was and Kennard is an unknown who hasn't played this season. The two FRP's could be 20+ if we stay healthy as well.
That creates a pretty epic hole at PG for us as well - mid-second round pick starting for a team that wants a late play-off run? I mean I'd of course do it with the idea to patch that with a MLE free agent in the off-season, but this year we'd have to find another way to upgrade the point without moving a FRP and only have Leuer and GRIII. Most likely we'd use Boban's TPE for a <7M point guard from some team in the tax.

Yeah, Bradley Beal is valuable enough.
I don't think they'd bite on a deal like that though.

Probably need a 3rd team since wall and Reggie is redundant.

Re: Fixing our bench
THIS!!! This would be the set up for next season to sign a veteran PG who wants a ring, like collision or someone else. Plus you could still move Galloway for something and free up minutes for Brown and Stanley off the bench. Not to mention we still have another really good wing prospect in Khyri Thomas.Moses ShamMoses wrote:Would you guys trade Reggie Jackson + Kennard + a couple 1st rounders for Bradley Beal? Re: Is the time right to move Kennard in a deal?
I dont think they would either, I think the trade to make is for Miami Heats Richardson and Olynyk. Trade Galloway, Robinsonand Leuer with some picks for them.Snakebites wrote:Moses ShamMoses wrote:Would you guys trade Reggie Jackson + Kennard + a couple 1st rounders for Bradley Beal? Why does Miami move Richardson though?
