Re: Wizards asking for Miles and Monk
Rather give up future firsts as the Hornets are in win-now mode
I would consider Monk + Miles if Washington ate Batum and Cody Zeller or Biyombo and gave us Otto Porter as well but I doubt they do that

i wouldn't do less if I'm WAS.
Charlotte should strongly consider it.

I wouldn't even consider it. Monk has shown absolutely nothing. So you're looking at Miles Bridges as the only real asset in exchange for your best asset while eating Batum to boot.

the plan is to get as good as quickly as possible....I fully believe we could have been a borderline playoff team last year by adding young veterans....using or draft picks and cap space.....can I specifically tell you who? no.

I’d trade that for Beal if I’m Charlotte but I wouldn’t take on Batum as Washington

Beal definitely asked for a trade.

If you are trying to win now, your picks aren't valuable, sorry. Bridges+Monk+filler(s) sounds about right and Charlotte should do it if it's available.

If that and expiring contracts is all it takes, Charlotte should do it before Grunfeld grows wiser.

Re: Wizards asking for Miles and Monk
Shouldn't be much hesitation there--sure Bridges and Monk are fine prospects but there's little chance they come close to where Beal's at now, and they're also likely to lose trade value each month that goes by. I know some CHA fans will say they believe in one or both guys and don't want to give up on them (esp while they're cheap), but both guys are very very much in the 'maybe good' category and you should always swap a couple of them for a 'definitely very good.'

No rush then.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I rather have a dollar in my pocket today than potentially two dollars several years from now.

Easy decision from the Hornets. Especially if it's anyone but Marvin as the filler

Re: Wizards asking for Miles and Monk
If the Wizards give up Beal for this package, their front office is more idiotic than I thought. Monk and Bridges have shown virtually nothing on the court. Monk is an undersized gunner and Bridges can dunk. They are not pieces I'd rebuild my team around...especially for a 25 year old all-star guard.

Re: Wizards asking for Miles and Monk
If that was really their demand, the trade would have been made already. There has to be a couple FRP's and/or taking on a bad contract or two.
Edit to add - same questionable source as before regarding Charlotte/Washington.

I would not give up both unless they’re taking back Cody or Biz and Batum. I would even through in this year’s 1st.

I just don't know any way you could realistically expect that. Bridges/Monk is crazy light for a 25-year old All Star.

First being an All Star guard in the east isn’t impressive.
If that’s Washington’s final offer for us then I wouldn’t care if the front office eventually pulled the trigger. I don’t think Ernie’s stupid enough to trade Beal for Batum without a Billy King type Trade. I’m happy they didn’t immediately do this though. Lakers aren’t going to trade Ball/Ingram, Magic aren’t trading 2 of Gordon/Bamba/Issacs , Bucks aren’t trading Middleton/Brogdon/ Portland isn't doing a CJ swap/ Nuggets aren’t doing a Harris swap and Toronto isn’t doing OG/Siakam right now. It’s best to wait it out before we give up 2 of our few assets.

Ball, Ingram, Gordon, Bamba, Isaac, Middleton, McCollum, Harris, Anunoby, Siakam.....which one of those guys do you think Monk is in the same galaxy as value-wise? And Bridges is only in the same class as a few of those guys.

Any reason to believe this guy? Seems like the type of source that more often than not gets things entirely wrong.
