I assume the Wizards would have to eat Batum's deal to get them both.

Any reason to believe this guy? Seems like the type of source that more often than not gets things entirely wrong.

he was the first one to post the rumor that was confirmed by bigger media guys later for whats its worth

Charlottes got a preview of what a 20ppg (with better defense) SG can do for them in the last couple weeks with Jeremy Lamb...and it turns out we're still mediocre. Beal doesn't move the needle for us, we need a big or a scoring ~6'8 wing.
I would have made this trade last week but I've changed my mind. Rather wait and see if anyone more appealing hits the trade block

I still predict Kevin Love will be with the Hornets by the deadline.

I just don't know any way you could realistically expect that. Bridges/Monk is crazy light for a 25-year old All Star.

First being an All Star guard in the east isn’t impressive.

If that’s Washington’s final offer for us then I wouldn’t care if the front office eventually pulled the trigger. I don’t think Ernie’s stupid enough to trade Beal for Batum without a Billy King type Trade. I’m happy they didn’t immediately do this though. Lakers aren’t going to trade Ball/Ingram, Magic aren’t trading 2 of Gordon/Bamba/Issacs , Bucks aren’t trading Middleton/Brogdon/ Portland isn't doing a CJ swap/ Nuggets aren’t doing a Harris swap and Toronto isn’t doing OG/Siakam right now. It’s best to wait it out before we give up 2 of our few assets.

Ball, Ingram, Gordon, Bamba, Isaac, Middleton, McCollum, Harris, Anunoby, Siakam.....which one of those guys do you think Monk is in the same galaxy as value-wise? And Bridges is only in the same class as a few of those guys.

I don’t care if Monk gets traded for Beal. I care about throwing Miles in there as well . Monk isn’t on their level yet but all but 2 or 3 of the players you mentioned didn’t show much in their first few years either and are now very good players after getting a chance. Monk is finally getting minutes after being buried on the bench because of Clifford. It’s not like myself or other fans are putting up a fuss about MKG and Cody (two draft busts for where they were taken) being offered for Beal. Monk and Bridges next to Kemba are, our only assets.

sheesh I hope not!

I wouldn't trade Bridges for Beal. I'm just not sure Beal is enough of a difference maker to change our team outlook and Bridges could be better in a few years and still on a cheap contract.

My assumption - and correct me if I'm wrong - was that this deal was as much about convincing Kemba to re-sign as it was rounding out the 2018-19 roster. I don't what more appealing player is going to hit the market then Beal.

Yeah, he seems like he primarily covers the Hornets and Hoopshype, which really doesn't traffic in garbage, reposted this.

And that's a perfectly reasonable approach but if you don't think Beal is enough of a difference maker, wouldn't that also mean that you would be in the "must trade Kemba" camp? If you don't think Beal/Kemba is the right core to build around, why wait and lose Kemba for nothing. Better off acquiring assets and trying to tear it completely down with Bridges. Just my view from the outside.

I would consider Monk + Miles if Washington ate Batum and Cody Zeller or Biyombo and gave us Otto Porter as well but I doubt they do that

Sorry but this is stupid. Charlotte cannot possibly be in win-now mode. Their ceiling is to make playoffs and that's where the shortsighted moves over the years got them.

CHA should go for it. They arent playing for championships with Kembas age and those contracts and Beal/Kemba makes them a premier team in the East for the next 5 years imo. And I like Bridges.

Reposting random local guys without actually verifying their reports feels exactly like the sort of garbage that gets done by hoopshype (and other places) to me. If a guy with sub 2k twitter followers and his greatest credential being a fan blog breaks ongoing trade talks, I'm going to hold out and see if someone more credible (Woj, Lowe, etc) confirms them.

No was Wash eats Batum for that package lol Miles and Monk might not even cancel out how terrible that Batum deal is. That's a neutral value package at best and break is worth way more than that. Those two and Marvin Williams is a starting point

If Wizards take this deal it will go down as one of the worst in history

Boston can and easily should trump this offer

Jaylen Brown + Hayward for Beal + Kief

Kyrie/Rozier
Beal / Smart
Tatum / Morris
Morris / Morris
Horford/Baynes

Who knows maybe the if you unite the Morris twins, they would take a huge discount to play with each other again in Boston for the length of Kyrie's next deal?

Wizards also really cant turn that deal down and if they do just add in one of the many 1st rounders Boston has, Wizards wont get a better deal

i read it just fine, you think lamb scoring 20s produces same results as beal scoring 20s, id question that theory

who else is coming back to WAS ? adding Lambs expiring still doesn't get the numbers to match.
They'd have to take back 2 years of Marvin to make the deal work
