I was against drafting a PG but Morant is quickly winning me over

Give me Kevin Porter or Ja Morant over Keldon Johnson in that scenario.

Why do we pick 7th in that mock? There's 10 teams with worse record than Magic plus we are tied with another 2.

I can't believe we are choosing THIS year to be a non-lottery team. :banghead:

To be fair, this year's draft could have the same reaction. Ayton , Bagley , BAMBA , Trae and Doncic... what we are saying to those Duke freshies could have applied to this draft's lot as well.

Ja Morant is the guy we need to target. If we keep playing this well though, we may have to move up to get him.

Would love to work on the project of Ntilikina in the meantime, see what’s there and what can keep improving, but another interesting PG is Carsen Edwards. Looks like a player who will have a career somewhere between prime Jameer Nelson and Damian Lillard.

Morant 25 pts 11 rebs 6 asts in an easy win over Prairie View.

His turnovers are still sky high and his 3PT% is down to .333, but 27-8-8-2 while shooting 56% from the field and 83% of the line as a 19 year old PG is pretty terrific regardless of competition.

We’ve needed a guard for 4 years . Is this the time we actually draft one?

Its Ja or bust for me at that PG spot but we wont by that high to pick him. Ja is top 10 right now. Only way if we dont trade for a PG before the draft is to trade up.

It's hard for me to get excited about this draft when Woj in one of his recent podcasts started talking about buyers and sellers at the deadline and literally said that we "don't care about our draft pick" this year and that we are 100% focused on getting to the playoffs. That leads me to believe that in a month or so if we are still hovering around the .500 mark and competing for a playoff spot that there is a good chance this pick could get moved for a point guard.

I'm really enjoying college basketball so far this year (especially my Noles), but I'm going to have to wait until around that time or the trade deadline to see where we stand as a team and to see if we are still in the hunt for a playoff spot before I really get excited about this draft for us.

I will say that Ja Morant is a guy that is definitely catching my eye. If we do end up keeping our pick he is probably the number one realistic target for us on my list right now. Langford has disappointed thus far, but his play is starting to pick up as of late and he is another guy that will be high on that list for me as well if he can continue to play better.

Never cared less about lottery .
Magic won't get there anyway.
Won't be too worked up if we trade pick for proven guard player.

Probably not. Morant likely will be out of our range. Better start preparing for, with the 11th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the Orlando Magic select.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

I'm pissed. When I voted for Morant, I thought we'd have a clear shot at him. Now, he's gonna be out of range. :banghead:

With the way we struggle to score and get to the line, we could use a guy like this! Not to mention he plays with intensity all the time!

Still not convinced of this.

I think the Magic end up missing the playoffs slightly, finishing like 9th or 10th in the East just outside of the 8 seed and end up drafting in 7-12 range

I believe Morant will be available there.

If he’s not there will be plenty of other guys, Kevin Porter, Keldon Johnson, Romeo Langford among others should be available too.
