I knew he was a bust when I seen this on twitter early in the season.
Que the excuses that Luke had a minor injury in July and thats why he wasnt getting the run over the bums we've got on the wing.
An honest question: as a fan, do you value Luke Kennard?

Rodney Stuckey: Dwyane Wade 2.0
Austin Daye: Poor man's Kevin Durant
Greg Monroe: The next great center
Andre Drummond: Better than Anthony Davis
KCP: The next Jimmy Butler
Stanley Johnson: Tabbed as a star in the making after his first summer league
Henry Ellenson: Dirk Nowitzki lite
Now people are attaching Manu Ginobili's name to Luke Kennard. Manu is a borderline HOF'er, a core piece for numerous championship teams, and had more grit/tenacity/determination to impose his will than most guys who have ever stepped on an NBA floor. Manu's game/style/attitude couldn't possibly be any different than Luke Kennard.
I think the long standing intense desire for Detroit to have a home-grown star leads people to allow far too much homerism into the equation when projecting upside/potential, while at the same time ignoring the obvious flaws these guys have.

I'll give you that of all the ones I listed the Daye/Durant one was the least talked about, but after that '09 draft there was some talk about it then after Daye scored 50 in the Drew league (or whatever joke of a "league" its called) some people started throwing it back out there.
As for the others they might not have been "overriding themes" but there was plenty of chatter about them. Most especially I guess you don't remember the 2015 Summer league threads regarding Johnson and the scads of "we can't let KCP walk" related threads.

LOL! "The KCP Wars of 2016" is why I will never trust the talent evaluation of Piston fans ever again. I could not believe the things I was reading on this board that summer.
There's going to be so much disappointment with Luke Kennard coming, especially with the "18-20ppg" crowd. He can't even force his way into the rotation against guys that fans are telling themselves that he's better than.
Brandon Knight, Rodney Stuckey, KCP, Greg Monroe, and even Stanley Johnson had shown more to be excited about at this point in their Piston careers and all of them were complete washouts for us. At least with those guys I understood the hype even if I didn't always agree, but with Luke... nope, I don't get it... at all.

Luke Kennards ceiling is a less athletic Nik Stauskas.

I'm looking forward to him getting back.
