This deal just looking better and better. The off season market was really nice for teams with redirected FA's, no pressure to overpay.

Then again, as the Clippers with how well he has been doing, you probably think, "what if we could have locked him up at like 4 years / $40 million". Of course that assumes he would accept, but look at someone like Josh Richardson with the Heat and his contract to production so far this season.

Wow that's a really nice pic.

And Trezz, if he keeps this up, I wonder if he could be in the discussion for BOTH 6 MOY AND MIP... I know Pascal Siakam of the Raptors has taken a huge leap from last year, but Trezz, this man is just savage. Pretty much every game he has some kind of spectacular highlight. We don't have as many lobs, but now we have all these Shaq-like dunks from Trezz. I might be the only one who thinks this, but he honestly reminds me of a mini Shaq. Surprising set of post moves, complete with dunks, running hook shots, pump fakes, up and unders, I even remember a spin move again Capella.... and he tries to tear the rim off the backboard every time...

I like how almost every play you hear Trezz screaming "And 1!!!". It's ironic we have Maggette calling these games, the guy who trademarked his raspy yelling/shouting everytime he put his head down and recklessly drove into the lane looking for fouls

I have seen people compare him to Faried. When they do they mean years ago when Faried would hustle very hard. I think Trezz is better though.

Trezz in Select Company

Frank Urbina, HoopsHype.com (11/22/18)
MONTREZL HARRELL, LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS

Speaking of big men dominating off the bench, Los Angeles Clippers backup center Montrezl Harrell is, like Sabonis, absolutely killing it in his reserve role.

Thus far this season, Harrell is putting up 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.8 blocks per contest, while successfully converting 66.9 percent of his field-goal attempts on the year. Only three other players can match the former Louisville Cardinal’s total points (264), assists (26) and blocks (30) in 2018-19, and they’re all star-level talents that go by the names of Karl-Anthony Towns, Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis.

That’s decent company for the Clippers big man, proving how wildly productive he’s been this year.

As if that wasn’t enough, we should also note Harrell ranks second in points per possession (PPP) as the pick-and-roll roll man this year, per Synergy Sports. His 1.54 PPP on those looks only trails Gobert, a former All-NBA big man.

These Nine NBA Players are Quietly Balling This Season

Engine Revving the Clippers Up

In a world where 3-point shooting and spaced out half-court sets govern the league, “Trez” does neither. Instead, he thrives by finding cutting and rolling lanes, and impacting the game via offensive rebounds and post-ups. If there is a playtype that requires spirit and enthusiasm, you can rest assured that Montrezl Harrell blossoms in that area. That’s the sort of thing that breathes life into a team, and the way the Clippers play is a testament to that.

With the Western Conference legitimately containing 14 teams that are capable of playing playoff basketball, the Los Angeles Clippers will be hard-pressed to keep themselves in a top four position. Although with their spiritual leader Montrezl Harrell tying their group of borderline stars together, they have just as much chance as anyone right now. That’s what happens when a role player exerts maximum effort nightly.

Montrezl Harrell is the Force That Drives the Clippers

Trezz 4th in PER

Post#72 » by Ranma » Tue Dec 4, 2018 6:59 am

I've never been a fan of John Hollinger's PER so I'm curious if the statistic RealGM is citing is a refined version of the former. Still, it's interesting to find Trezz in good company just below Durant and just ahead of Harden. Hopefully, he can recapture or otherwise improve upon his free-throw shooting skills.

Montrezl's Non-Stop Motor

Kristian Winfield, SBnation.com (12/6/18)
“He could probably play 58 minutes,” Rivers says. “I don’t think endurance is ever gonna be a problem.”

But how does Harrell fuel an engine that has to keep running at the highest power possible every second he’s on the floor?

The simple answer: “I get paid to play the game of basketball,” he says. “This is my job.”

“His motor comes from being from the trenches,” Rountree, who currently plays pro basketball in Qatar, says in a phone interview. “Where we’re from, there’s plenty of dudes that can hoop, but there’s no one that plays as hard as him. People love to talk like he’s just a brute and not that skilled, but playing that [expletive] hard consistently is a skill.”

“Energy’s a talent,” he says. “It’s not just an ‘I’m going to play with energy thing,’ because if it were true, everyone would do it.”

Underappreciated Harrell Gets More Press

Michael Shapiro, Sports Illustrated (12/19/18)
MONTREZL HARRELL, CLIPPERS

The Louisville product worked as a limited-minutes energy booster in 2017-18, attacking the offensive glass with abandon when DeAndre Jordan headed to the bench. Harrell ran the risk of overexposure this season, splitting center duties with Marcin Gortat as the Clippers groom rookie point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Lob City was assumed to be dead, and its replacement projected to be a touch unsightly.

Los Angeles has proved prognosticators wrong thus far, sixth in the West at 17–13 as of Tuesday night. Harrell has been a key cog in the Clippers’ success. A second-round selection in 2015, Harrell is averaging career-highs in points, rebounds and blocks. He’s developed a nascent rapport with Gilgeous-Alexander, cramming lobs with abandon on the pick-and-roll. Harrell outplayed DeAndre Jordan as 2017-18 drew to a close. The Clippers haven’t missed the current Mavs center this season.

There are few harder workers on the offensive glass than Harrell. He isn’t deterred by his 6’8” frame. He’s an anticipatory technician, swimming and spinning past defenders to snag extra possessions. His prowess on the offensive glass is reminiscent of Tristan Thompson, although with added burst in place of sheer strength. Often surrounded by a small-ball unit with Danilo Gallinari or Tobias Harris at the four, Harrell has kept Los Angeles’s rebound rate and defense at respectable levels. He’s as low maintenance as a center can get, and a perfect embodiment of the Clippers’ newfound success.

the Trezz-festing is a little out of date :(

NOV: 28 mpg, 18 ppg, 8 rpg, 1.7 bpg
DEC: 24.3 mpg, 12.4 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 0.9 bpg

December's OK but it's back to earth. 7.5 rebs per 36 is particularly problematic for a C. A 7-footer, even a stiff, can do 7 rebs without jumping higher than his ankles.

I have no idea what WPA is but I noticed Trezz, Gallo and Harris were 5-6-7 in the NBA so hopefully it is good lol :)
