I wanted a Doncic/Booker backcourt. Dont want to be “that guy,” but Ayton really never impressed me in college. I never saw the “baby Shaq” comparison.

Having a below average (turned out to be untrue) defender at the wings is much better than having a fairy soft defender as your center.

McD screwed up again not taking Doncic #1.

Because Melton's 21/5 and +24 off the bench is a negative too ?
if you lose by 30 in the First qrt, than nothing is positive.. not even that.

Didn't watch the game, but Melton highlights look decent. He is physically more ready to play in the NBA than Okobo, looking a bit like Bledsoe here.

Yeah, if he can shoot and score like that, then we should start him with Booker out. A lot of that was in garbage time, but I'll take it and give him a shot to get more minutes. Have to change some things up.

that is what people said about Okobo last week after he scored 19 points in a game. Suns fans need to stop getting ahead of themselves about a player whenever someone plays well in a game. you should be old enough to know that playing well in a game means nothing.

Well, we have to start one of the two unless you are advocating starting Crawford. I say run with the hot hand. If he sucks and Okobo comes in and kills it, start him the next one. Reward a good performance. It's not like we have a bunch of options.

Came for the hysterical Ayton bashing and fevered Doncic worship.

Not disappointed.

Thing is with Melton he's no defensive liability, he's an exceptional one on one defender. His issues were always on the other end. He's much better there than what he was 18 months ago though. Looking forward to see what he does in coming games if your coaches give him further opportunity.

Hi guys.

Been a while since I’ve posted, but have been doing plenty of reading on this board.

First off, this hate on Ayton is ridiculous. I agree he has a lot of work to do, but it’s as if he is the reason we have only won 4 games and if we had Doncic, we’d be in playoff contention. C’mon! I understand we’re all frustrated on the state of affairs, if you weren’t, you couldn’t be a true fan. I don’t see how you can expect Ayton to develop defensively when he’s constantly having to back up others who miss their defensive assignments. Guys like Ariza were supposed to bolster the defence and he’s done anything but. However it’s all irrelevant, as it’s quite clear something is very wrong with the franchise. The culture stinks. Guys aren’t trying, rotations are all over the show and you can bet Warren and Booker are in no hurry to return from injury to right the ship. I’m coming to Phoenix from Australia in March to see the Suns play the Wizards and I doubt more than 2000 people will be there at this rate. These guys look like they hate playing at the moment and until that can be addressed, everything else is a waste of time in my opinion.

Bogdanovic is like Mini-Klay to me.... and I AM STILL ticked off Suns traded him away...

And this team is a joke, its like they partied the night before and just woke up 2 hours before tip off... No heart except for a couple of players who hustled and dived for the ball

And Kokoskov taking it like a pussy...

If I was him I would be yelling at the collective group and would get a couple of technical fouls to get kicked out atleast which hopefully would wake up the team

I don't think anyone is saying Ayton is the reason why we're losing games, or that if we had Doncic we would be winning.

Everyone is just pointing out Ayton's major flaws, which is a big concern at the moment for a #1 pick who is the future of this franchise.

If he doesn't even look like he's trying out there, how are people suppose to react? Give him props for putting up some raw numbers that don't really mean jack, the epitome of empty stats.

Another thing he does which is annoying, is hold his hand up in the air too long after contesting a shot (or pretending to), rather than get back in position to be useful. He does this quite often lol, now I'm gonna be labeled as an Ayton hater. But, the ball is already at the rim, probably even at the bottom of the net, and he's still standing there with his hand in the air!!

I've been alone on Melton Island all year. I think Melton's a player, and Okobo's a prospect. DM is a difference maker and deserves to be on the court, and nothing I've seen from Okobo has given me cause to think similarly of him.

.... It's not in the stats (except for last night's, obvi). You have to watch the games. Melton belongs out there.

They've each played one good game. Just glad they got some time in the G league and each needs plenty of game time now with Booker out. Melton obviously went more against guys in garbage time but he certainly looked good. There are certainly a lot of people high on Melton, whether twitter or here. If Melton's offense is there and his turnovers stay down those are huge pluses. Okobo usually better on offense I think, but we need the defense and when Melton is going offensively we need to ride him.

This writer has it wrong..it happened in an earlier game...I think the Lakers game, or maybe the previous one...just making the rounds again. The fan insulted him first though. He didn't really insult the guy's income either but asked what his offer was.

Only game in which Melton's gotten meaningful minutes. Okobo's had a few chances. But it's not even that. Melton is able to get close to his man on defense on a consistent basis. He gets to loose balls, makes steals, passes quickly, keeps moving when the ball's in his hands, seems more consistent and confident in his shot, scores from various spots on the floor, demonstrates creative passing...

It's just the eye test. Maybe twittersphere is different, but on this MB, I feel like I'm watching a different game when it comes to this kid. I think he's special and deserves the PT. Where my fellow fans at with the DM love??

Melton has certainly played better, but mainly in one game in mostly garbage time. This was almost a third of his minutes so far. He's earned the right to start based on one game, though I don't care about that as much as getting his share of minutes...and earned a decent amount of minutes since you need to reward good play like Igor has done while he has benched the guys with the worst play to the extent he has been able to.
