We need Bec and Brodt to sign for that much as well.

Re: 2018 MLB Draft - June 4 - 6
Interesting Vlog here from Jordyn Adams on draft day. At ~7:25 they show our pick at #12, and his entire family gets really anxious as if they are anticipating us to pick him. Its even funnier as Jordyn Adams and Jordan Groshans both have the same first name, so hearing "Toronto selects Jordan..." obviously gets them even more excited. We had been mentioned to be in on Jordyn Adams, and to me this really signals that we may have given him seriously strong consideration, to the point that his representation obviously believed that we might take him at #12.

That's funny. Guy beside him looks like Adrian Beltre's doppelganger.

Today is the last day to sign MLB draft picks. Jays have a few stragglers that likely won't sign, think they have about 70K + 100K to throw at one of their unsigned picks, though i think they have signed first 20 picks.

I don't think they have any money left. We signed Josh Hiatt a few days ago as a Redshirt Sophomore so I'd imagine he got most if not all of that remaining money.

I wonder what the strategy for AA is here - it's the third time as a GM his team has failed to sign a first round draft pick.

Re: 2018 MLB Draft - June 4 - 6
I noticed that too. This is getting a bit too reoccurring for me to see it all as coincidental. I cant help but think that they drafted Stewart knowing he had a preexisting wrist injury under the assumption that they could spook him into signing for below slot, regardless of how severe this injury supposedly is. When we failed to sign Singer it was because "something" undisclosed came up in his physical. Sounds legit, until you take into account that Singer came in as a true Freshman and dominated at Florida. I don't even remember him being hurt ever in his three years there? Then you had Bickford and Beede who were both cases wherein it was known that they had well above-slot demands, only for us to offer nowhere near their price tags. Bickford definitely wasn't hurt, there may or may not have been some "reported" medical concern with Beede but I don't remember. Its almost as if he's purposely drafting HS pitchers and trying to strong-arm them into taking team friendly deals, or trying to find any reason possible to lower their offer under the hope that the kid just takes it. I'm going to be really interested in seeing whether or not Stewart's apparently terrible wrist injury (it was reported as minor going into the draft) ends up being anything or not.

There might be more of an advantage having a giant bonus pool in a single year, particularly now that it isn't use-it-or-lose-it. Then again you'd think that would be largely offset by delaying talent by an extra year, but it does seem to be an intentional thing.
**** your asterisk.

Too early for a 2019 draft thread, I suppose, but here is MLB Pipeline's Top 50 prospects. Jays draft 11th if I recall correctly.

There are BLOODLINES, naturally. Al Leiter's kid is probable first-round material, as is Bobby Witt Jr.

Is it fair to call Logan Warmoth a bust yet? Or too early? Either way, please stay away from drafting college position players without plus tools in the first couple of rounds.

2016 #57 J. B. Woodman
2017 #22 Logan Warmoth
2018 #52 Griffin Conine
Let's hope Griffin doesn't fall into the same category.

Re: 2018 MLB Draft - June 4 - 6
Apparently the Braves didn't offer 40% slot to Stewart? Thus voiding their comp pick this year?? At least AA continually screwing up the 1st round is starting to feel a little less personal at this point......
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/carter-stewart“There’s no timetable for a resolution” in the dispute between the Braves and first-round draft pick Carter Stewart, Gabriel Burns of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes. As detailed by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal(subscription required) in early October, the MLBPA filed a grievance claiming that Stewart failed to reach an agreement with the Braves after his physical turned up ligament damage in his wrist, and he’s now seeking to be declared a free agent by Major League Baseball. The grievance alleges that the Braves did not offer Stewart 40 percent of his slot value, which is the minimum offer that must be made to a player in order to receive a compensation pick in the following year’s draft. Stewart was the eighth overall pick in the 2018 draft, so Atlanta stands to be picking ninth overall in the 2019 draft unless Stewart’s grievance results in a favorable ruling for the young right-hander. Needless to say, it would be a big setback for the Braves if they missed out on such a high pick and received no compensation whatsoever, so this situation is certainly worth monitoring in the coming weeks or months until some decision is finally reached.

First draft in years that one of our former picks is not on the board.

Speaking about bloodlines, is it too early to go all in on Groshans?
