Re: Hassan Round 2
My thing is this, the Heat and we knew exactly what were resigning. Now deal with it make it work. You cant back out of the deal or throw him to the side. Its stupid to sign a player to a deal like that and not deal with his flaws. If you expected him to change all of sudden because he got paid, you were boo boo the fool, blame your self. I keep hearing we developing Bam, Bam is not being used no differently than he has his rookie season. They are using him, but I do not see no development training going on. He doing what he already been doing since Kentucky. They are not putting him in no different situation for him to learn.

Hassan this season has been if not our best player one of the 2-3 Best players on the team giving you close to 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Last night, he started 6 of 6, with force along with 7 rebounds.... and played under 10 minutes after that point.
Last season, most of the base, took Spo's side in this but is that the case this year? Does Hassan have a point that Spo doesnt read the game.
I've been out of circulation, so I don't know what happened, but a players salary gets broken down as such ...
100% - play your best when the coach calls your number
0% - for your opinion on anything
Exceptions are made for special players, but despite Whiteside's occasional crazy stats, he's not nearly as special as he thinks he is.
Without knowing the details, I'll side with Spo.

I disagree with your Bam's views. There were times last season where the game looked too fast for Bam. He always competed but what was happening around him looked strange to him. He was used more as an energy guy than anything else. This season you can see him being more polished in his positioning, more comfortable with how plays are ran, there is less stupid fouling and more technique when defending. He seems to have slightly improved his rebounding too.
Let's remember that he was as raw as you could get as a prospect but with a high ceiling and the expectation was at least 4 seasons of development. He is only 21 years old. He is closer to being a completed project on the defensive end than he is on offense where he is still raw but his biggest growth has been on the intangibles. He is becoming a rotation player and deserving of more minutes. Let's see what happens the rest of the season.
As for Hassan, you are right. We placed a bet on him having made permanent changes in his attitude and taking the next step. Instead, he went back to the pouting, disengaged and self-serving play. We lost the bet, we must deal with it. A trade out of town is a must. Maybe Portland would like to pair him with his buddies CJ and Dame?

He'll never be a winner, and he doesn't fit here in any regard.
Trade for anything, addition by subtraction. Minutes go to Kelly, Bam and Maten.
Come on now, we had very little options but to try to re-sign Whiteside and hope it fell in our favor. You wanted him back knowing everything that we already knew, as well. He's probably the worst signing post-Bosh but I would probably have done it again if I had the chance
Only failure was not trading while the iron was still hot
^ this. The minute Whiteside signed that contract, he became a ticking bomb. Anytime your dealing with a ticking bomb, the last thing on your mind should be how long you can hold onto it before it goes off. We should have traded him the minute he became eligible to be traded. Take the best deal you can get, and consider it found money. Instead Pat started having dreams of Hakeem.

Sounds like a guy catching up to NBA speed (fouls especially). But he's always been a lockdown perimeter defender. There wasn't much room for growth defensively outside of that.
He brings the ball up the court from time to time now. That's sums up his growth on offense. I'm not saying that this is his ceiling, but with the way we're using him, hold me, QUIZ, I'm not expecting much more than Tristan Thompson. That's a damn shame considering he moves like a 3 and we're making him play the 4/5.

Idk what's up with Hassan. He clearly wants out of here but he's hurting his own value by playing like ass. Is his agent brain dead? He should be telling his client about this kind of thing. We couldn't trade him over the summer because hurt or not he quit on the team during the playoffs. Now he's not playing with a motor, ffs.
Where would we even send him?

Hm. You mean after we signed him? Remember the front office was split on team direction...some wanted to blow it all up, some wanted to try to compete.

There was an opportunity to send him to Houston for Dwight. And they turned it down once they learned how much Dwight wanted to resign

Re: Hassan Round 2
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Hassan act up for being benched when we win. Not to say he’s the most mature person, but if you’re going to bench the guy and still lose by a bunch....then I can see why he’s upset. He’s our guy. Win with him and lose with him.
Can you imagine Pat Riley coming down to coach a second half and still losing. I wonder how Spo would feel then?

Gonna be a dangerous expiree, unless he's dumb enough to opt out
He'll be the biggest expiree on the market but I seriously doubt they'll be many positive assets to go after unless a star wants out.
Ion want nothing to do with Wall or Porter or Wiggins

I don't think Spo wants to make it work because it seems like he was never fond of re-signing him
And he was right

do what your coach tells you, to the best of your ability, then take your cash and sleep well.
Spo is actually increasing Hassan's playing life.

Nobody in the NBA takes 27 million without giving up something they don't want in return. Hassan needs to look at how JV is being used in Toronto and embrace it.
