Kings General Discussion 2018-2019

Post#1 » by codydaze » Wed Nov 14, 2018 6:59 pm

Since it's not the offseason anymore and this team is no longer killing me, I think we should get a new thread started for general discussion of the team.

Following on from the WCS signing theme from the other thread then. I think it’s going to take every bit of 4/60 to sign him and we have
The good thing about him playing well this early is the Kings FO has to make their mind up prior to the deadline and go 1 of 3 ways.
There will be enough evidence to suggest he is getting paid somewhere in the vicinity of 4/70 so if you are prepared to pay him that then let the season play out and match what offer he gets.
If you don’t want to pay him that sort of money then flip him at the deadline for the best package possible.
Thirdly if you have a figure in mind well below that and don’t think anyone will pay him you let his agent know what you’re prepared to pay and if they can get more we will negotiate a S&T.
No way under any circumstances you let a player like WCS walk for nothing after the season he is having.

4/50 would be the ideal situation in my opinion, but if you can lock him at up 4/60 then I think you do that before offer sheets start coming in so he's locked up and we don't have to worry about matching. 4/60 for Willie would still be a very moveable deal.

One of the bad things in having a good start is the WCS decision. If we do well and he plays well like he has been, then he's going to want to get paid. Most likely, 4 - 76. That's 26 over ideal which is to much. I hope Vlade has a number and sticks to it and like Simon said, if no deal and not willing to meet demands, trade at deadline to acquire assets.

Fox / Buddy / Bogi is an exciting group. If all three are on, we're going to be tough to beat.

Who are the kings higher on as a player, Hield or Bogdanovic?

IMO Divac has more invested in Hield. Vlade LOVES both though. I think the organization believes Buddy has the higher ceiling.

With good reason. I wish the thunder had something of value to offer for Bogdanovic. It’s just not realistic.

Damn it’s close in the West. We need a couple more upset wins and it could make all the difference come January. Really important few weeks.

Winning 2 of the next 4 (GS, UTA, LAC, IND) and then beating 2 terrible teams (PHO, CLE) would be great. That would be 14-10 after about 30% of the season.

Enjoying the season so far. Not much to criticize.

He's been on the bench in street clothes all year. FO let him know he probably wouldn't be seeing the floor much, if at all, this year so he's been almost an assistant coach role. I assume he'll be a buyout candidate if he's not moved by the deadline. He seems to like working with the young guys though so I don't know, if we're in the playoff hunt around those deadlines he may just stick around.

Not a Heat fan, but is Justise Winslow a good fit with the Kings? What would you offer? Skal?

I’m still not giving up on Giles. Even this time next year I won’t have given up on him. He’s got IT, he just needs time and a big guy always takes longer. Heck I think the Kings will be able to sign Giles to a long term offer that is going to be looked at as a bargain because of “lack of development etc”. Admittedly a lot of water will go under the bridge between now and then, but he is one of the guys that is a no go for mine.

Would Sacramento give up:

Shumpert + Randolph + WCS + Koufos + 2nd + Labissiere

... for Porter + Mahinmi + Patterson + OKC 2nd?

I don't see the Kings taking on the Mahimi/Patterson contracts AND giving up WCS AND giving up Labissiere/2nd rounders to get Porter. That is just too much to give up.

WCS is RFA that you guys don’t want to pay. Bagley is future 5.
