Jason Smith was 37 for 78 from three in 16-17???
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

I think so. Smith's efficiency behind the line is not much more proven than Zeller's was, inside the arc he's considerably less efficient, and defensively you're going to lose something.

He's considerably less efficient because Jason Smith is actually a jump shooter. He'll take those shots and has done so his entire career. Jason Smith, throughout his career has taken a LOT of shots from 16 feet to the three point line, and has hit 45.5% of them which is a VERY VERY good number, particularly for a big. He's going to get the green light to shoot from deep by Bud, and for a guy who's never really got shots up on volume from that distance, he's one of the more equipped bigs in the NBA to start doing so. He's far more bouncy and mobile than Zeller and as a result is a better shot blocker. He hustles, but lacks the defensive IQ Zeller has. Very blegh on the glass.

Think more along the lines of Miles Plumlee who pops instead of rolls.

Such bull that some of you are playing the "Horst takes some of the blame because he's Hammond's protege."

We have no idea what input or involvement in anything.

Just not seeing the value. Arrow not pointing the right direction. Hope he succeeds and proves me wrong.

I would think they'd much rather have Dekker so that move would have been made already if it was going to happen (for that specific piece at least). Should have leaned more in that direction, even if it took a little sweetener. Dedmon discernibly improves the team, Smith doesn't.

Dekker for Dedmon definitely doesn't work.

Is that what I said?

Well you said you didn't want us to include picks to dump salary. There's really only one other way to do it, add a cheap asset like Brogdon. So if you didn't want to keep their salary how would YOU dump those contracts? Adding picks or assets?

I just think jubilance over a deal that fixes a problem we created for ourselves is excessive. An "A" should be reserved for a straight up swindling.

I'm okay giving this deal something in the B range.

It's an A++ trade if we end up with another all nba player on the roster because of this.

Can we put a rest to this “all the mistakes Horst was involved in” s***?

Have you ever had a boss before? How manny times have you been the person reporting up and informed him or her something was a bad idea and they said “f*** it” I’m the boss and done it their way anyways. I know I sure have.

Maybe, just maybe dude knows what he’s doing. So far he has taken a dogs*** Jason Kidd led team and turned them into a damn fun product about to beat the Warriors again tonight proving 7 games in the finals will be nothing for us.

I mean Horst got the gig because he was involved in everything.

Sure, Horst has been with the organization for nine years and has played a vital front-office role for many of them. He eventually rose to the point where was he considered former GM John Hammond's right-hand man.

Anywhere Hammond went Horst was there. That included contract negotiations, the draft combine, trade discussions — you name it and Horst was either there or fully apprised of what was going on.

The 34-year-old also became the team's salary-cap guru, crunching numbers and making sure the Bucks were diligently following the often labyrinthine regulations stipulated by the NBA's collective bargaining agreement.

How would you spin this out of nowhere hire? Horst got the job because his ticket was pulled out of a hat?

The GM hiring process honestly felt like that but maybe Horst was their guy. Legit noooooo one know who tf this dude was when it was announced. How else do you explain the hire?

Idk man. I’m having fun this year and I think Horst has done a pretty good job with what he was given, regardless of how involved he was.

I’m tired of being salty about everything this team does.
We are second best in the East and STILL slept on by everyone. We have a superstar who lives on that motivation like none other except maybe Aaron Rodgers.

damn you putting me on a rollercoaster, I thought that was a lot to give up dumping salary then we I saw we got Dekker back and was happy then we traded him for Jason Smith's bum ass? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I guess George Hill is still goodish at least right?

Henson, our Chipotle King gone? I don't know how to go on.

Once again, paying to get out of your own bad contracts shouldn't be celebrated. Horst was Hammond's protege, it's not like his hands are clean here.

Blaming Horst for things Hammond did is dumb.

Don't let your UW fandom cloud your judgment. He's not an NBA player.

(Also I dislike him for off the court reasons but that's neither here nor there.)

We're not blaming him but he was involved. Self-dubbed "cap expert" was involved with those deals.
