Okay so I did some math.

Case 1
So if from here on out we do nothing, resign Middleton to the max, resign Bledsoe to lets say 18m and Brogdon to 15m, cut Hill (means we pay the 1m guarantee) we end up 5.5m below the luxury tax. Meaning we can bring back everyone but Lopez and maybe even Lopez depending how much he wants. If you use more conservative numbers (e.g. let another team cut Hill for cash) we might even have the full MLE for Lopez.

Case 2
If we renounce one of Bledsoe or Middleton but keep the other's cap hold, we end up with roughly 20-25m in cap space. Meaning we'd have a max slot available with a bit of work (e.g. using our pick this year to move Snell), possibly even the 35% max, WHILE retaining Brogdon's rights. So we'd have access to Giannis, MAX player, Bledsoe or Middleton, Brogdon and a bunch of the remaining roster. And then the tax MLE for Lopez.

Case 3
If we renounce both we end up with 44m in cap space. Clearly enough space for a 35% max FA but even with dropping Snell not enough room for 2.

Case 4
If we trade for Beal (or any star making close to 30m in 2019/20) with either Bledsoe or Middleton or both and move Snell, Ersan, Thon and Wilson together with our first, we have a 35% max slot while together with that star.

Who is the happiest from this deal? Bledsoe/Brogs/Mids?

Well you said you didn't want us to include picks to dump salary. There's really only one other way to do it, add a cheap asset like Brogdon. So if you didn't want to keep their salary how would YOU dump those contracts? Adding picks or assets?

I just think jubilance over a deal that fixes a problem we created for ourselves is excessive. An "A" should be reserved for a straight up swindling.

I'm okay giving this deal something in the B range.

Bucks gonna Buck. That's how we roll. Crap move, recover. Kinda been the cycle around here. Let's hope they break the wheel and actually use the flexibility well. In other words, Jon Horst needs to be Daenerys Targaryen.

All of the above. Each guy plays more at their natural position, Bledsoe gets a legitimate backup so he can rest a bit more.

Jason Smith will give us more production than Sam, IMO. Neither is good, but at least Jason can bang in the post. Gives us some extra Thon insurance.

If you package it does. Easier to do that than make the talent exchange commensurate after conceding some.

I don't really care about not keeping Dekker, it's just ughhhhh you get young hometown kid you've been a fan of and he's gone. :-( Hopefully Bud can get something out of Jason Smith other's haven't. Didn't even think about Thon at first but Wood should play ahead of Thon anyways!

Maybe it is possible to get somebody to take Snell off our hands yet too, if somebody would take Delly then somebody has to be willing to take Snell who isn't a total walking corpse on the court. We'd have room to keep everybody and then another big time player I think?

Don't let your UW fandom cloud your judgment. He's not an NBA player.

(Also I dislike him for off the court reasons but that's neither here nor there.)

Neither is Jason Smith tho

That second rounder might be.
