No. He basically guessed that Delly might get traded to his old team. It was a good guess.

We already owned that one. Protected 46-60. So we're either afraid that the pick ends up 47th and we're missing out on it or we really value Smith...

The protection was removed so the Wizards could trade their 2021 2nd round pick, which we get for taking Smith's contact.

Just an outstanding move.

Me too. I am pretty elated to get out from under the Delly and Henny contracts. Hill and Smith are very ‘meh’ to me given where they are at in their careers. BUT, they now have a lot of flexibility in terms of deals and targets. What they do with this flexibility is now all that really matters.

Hill and Smith aren't world beaters, but they are better than Delly and Henson for this year, and we clear $19.1M for next year. Hill has shot 40+% from 3 three of the last four years and is .384 career. Smith is a solid three point shooter recently.

What this allows us to do is maintain a cap hold on Middleton or Brogdon while still offering a max contract. That's big. It also opens up trade opportunities for salary dumps from other teams.

So we have their unprotected 2nds for 2020 and 21?

I feel like this might be a precursor to a Middleton/Brogdon deal. I wouldn't be surprised if they were quietly dangling those two out there.

Next day and I'm still in the warming glow of this deal. Like, just enjoying some spotify and tea and thinking about what an wonderful trade this was.

Much easier to imagine the Bucks making a heavy-hitter offer for a star player now.

A consolidation trade also would have the added benefit of opening up additional cap space.

Conceivable to see Kemba, Lillard, Beal, or even Anthony Davis put on the block in the not too distant future.

Trading dead weight like Delly/injured Henson is one thing but they're not going to blow up the whole team, clearly the team is trying to compete this season. Losing a crap game to GS doesn't change that. Only way I could see it is for a guy that puts us over the top this year.

Kind of crazy that such a complex three team trade actually ends up working pretty well for all parties involved.

It would definitely be a win now type of move. It would have to be to a team that wants the bird rights for those two. People say the Beal trade doesn't make sense for Washington but it does it they want to be able to make a run for a FA and still re-sign one or both of them. I don't know what their cap looks like and someone else mentioned that it's pretty hard to match the salaries.

They are basically screwed. I haven't looked into it too much, but Wall is going to make like 38 million, Porter 26, and Mahimi 15.

Though, I am in the Incomplete camp, I have to give this trade an 'A'. It just rids the team of albatrosses and handcuffing contracts, it more than likely improves the team slightly this season, it provides quite a bit more flexibility mid to long term, and it affords an opportunity to package expirings in a bigger deal for significantly better players. That's just an 'A' any way you look at it. NOW, what they do with the flexibility and how they execute is an entirely different conversation. Hopefully, it's a good one!

Those are two of the best 3-point shooters on the team.

I thought they were opening up cap space with this trade in order to be in a position to retain them?

As well as either Bledsoe or Hill?

And maybe Lopez?

Are the Bucks selling out the new stadium? Would be tough if they have revenues concerns and Giannis is on a reasonable contract until the 2021-22 season.

You don't think a smart combo guard who is a 40% shooter from three helps this team?

I mean maybe we aren't getting Indy George Hill at this stage in his career but he is a surefire contributor.

I don't like his defense last couple of years, he got bounced around the league a little bit and he's on the wrong side of thirty so my gut feel is that he's kinda given up a little bit. And I dont' see Bledsoe giving up any of his 30 mins and Brogdon plays some PG too so not sure how much room there is for a back up PG to contribute actual wins.

Sterling Brown, Pat Connaughton, and Tony Snell played a combined 59 minutes against the Warriros. There are plenty of minutes available on the Bucks if a player is playing well.

That's my understanding, but I'd also like to re-ask this question, and get double-confirmation from better-informed posters!!

That's really the deal, we have both their 20 and 21 2nd-round picks, and both unconditional?

I will actually miss Henson. Not for the player but the person, 7 years a Buck! Seemed like he really embraced Milwaukee and was an amazing ambassador for Chipotle. Best of luck to you J Hook, may your burritos be fat and your worries be reserved in your right hand
