So the Snell contract is the only really bad move from horst so far?

From what I posted above how can we trade a 2021 draft pick that could potentially go to PHX? Sorry if this was discussed.

George Hill is good, don't discount this as a salary dump. The thing about him is staying healthy. He will have many fans after the first game he plays with us

Like any old player such as Joe Johnson, he's going to have some good games for the Bucks. But like any old player he's also going to have a bunch of games where he's of no impact.

The bigger import from the trade IMO is you can now trade Brogdon if needed and not have a complete wipeout at the backup PG/combo guard slot.

This definitely has potential as a precursor to a Brogdon trade, but even if we don't trade Brogdon this will slide Brogdon into his natural SG position when playing with the backups. This will help us win games while dumping 2 bad contracts, a trade where everything comes out positive for the Bucks. Awesome stuff.

I'm a little more fan-jaded and again want to see what this move now allows the team to do in terms of subsequent moves before getting too excited.

Had this board been popular and rolling in October 2001 we'd have been 90% in favor of the Anthony Mason free agent deal and unconcerned about the protected #1 pick we gave up to move Scott Williams salary. That #1 pick ended up being Josh Smith 2.5 years later.

Based on NBA Stats, among rotation players, Hill immediately becomes our most accurate 3-point shooter when wide open and Smith our third-best, with Malcolm in the Middle (huzzah!).

Joe Johnson is 37. George Hill is 32. Not that old.

The protection was removed so the Wizards could trade their 2021 2nd round pick, which we get for taking Smith's contact.

Just an outstanding move.

So we have their unprotected 2nds for 2020 and 21?

Correct, and with Grunfeld at the helm, those should be early 2nd round picks.

An 18-20 mpg backup role on a Bud team will be great for Hill instead of the 28-30+ mpg starter role he's had for years. He should fit in nicely in those Brogdon/Giannis bench lineups. Have wanted a true backup point guard to take pressure off Malcolm for a while now and Hill should be that dude.

FWIW, Hill was terrible against the Warriors on Wednesday night. 0 points and 3 assists in 25 minutes.

I think the best barometer for recent post-30 yo Hill is his time in Utah. He was very good there. Sacramento and Cleveland? Um, not so much. Not terrible by any stretch but kind of just a guy. He's definitely what you would call an injury-prone player. But, in a back-up role, I think he could thrive. It's just the old: Can he stay healthy? Doesn't seem likely. But, if we can get anything resembling Utah George we'll be very very lucky. He's also a terrific 3 point shooter and will get plenty of looks.

Tbf he's coming off an injury and was supposed to be on a minutes restriction that Drew just ignored lol. His numbers before that look pretty solid. Would maybe give him another 2-3 weeks off and let him ease into the rotation.
