Re: Joel Embiid - The Prophecy is Realized
We need a legit stretch 4 really the only floor spacer on the court in the starting lineup is JJ. That aint good enough. It's stupid to have Embiid hanging out at the 3PT line he can do it but the dude is 7'2 he's a threat not only on the block but also on the glass. We need shooters.
We can have Simmons who isn't that guy. JJ who is. Butler who someimes play around the perimeter. But there needs to be a second guy other then JJ where he doesn't just play there but you feel comfortable shooting it. You look at Dario when he was here he was taking 6-7 threes a game.
Wilson Chandler aint that guy. Muscala we are trying to turn him into that but he could shoot 8-9 threes a game aint noone moving off Embiid to cover him on the perimeter.
The other thing Embiid mentioned that y'all didn't even hear is he mentioned that when he does get on the block he's getting double-triple teamed. They aren't respecting the fact that Muscala/Chandler can knock down the three and until they do their bigs will stay deep when Embiid decides to play the post and he's right something has to change because he's so much more then a stretch 5. He can be that guy some of the time like Vuc if he notices teams aren't covering him but Vuc is not going out there parking himself on the perimeter to create space for other players. That not his job and it shouldn't be Embiids either. He's too good for that role. We need to find ourselves a legit stretch 4 who can do that for us.

He didn't say anything about taking only 3's.

Re: Joel Embiid - The Prophecy is Realized
Embiid has a gift of drawing fouls and he's an excellent FT shooter. He should exploit that as much as possible down low. Never understood why he's even shooting threes, given that he's not a 3pt shooter to begin with. He's an oldschool center who is also mobile enough to defend on the perimeter. He should be used as such.

Look at the numbers, he's been maxed out in the paint. He also has that upside to be an elite perimeter shooter. He needs to balance it out to carry a team, even if its not the Sixers. He is not shaq that he scores 50-60 FG%.
And quite frankly, I believe he's not really complaining about being asked to be more perimeter oriented. He's just gassed out because of the nature of today's game where he needs to cover multiple opponents on D and have to attack close outs.

Yeah, mentioned before, I think he's just been upset with his performance lately and then sitting out last game compounded his feelings.

This is how media makes their money. No one will care if Embiid says everything is great. No one will click their articles if it doesnt have a negative news so they have to twist Embiid’s word to make profit.

It isn't a report it's a direct quote.

It says he's upset with the report circulating (which is about his role), and then mentions what he's upset with about it.
An article about him being upset with his role and how he's being used doesn't get many clicks. An article about a player supposedly being upset with Jimmy Butler does.

Embiid's new comment is that he has no problem with Butler. His previous comments about spacing and his positioning and his role were not pointed towards Butler.

That makes more sense thanks for clearly that up. His comments about spacing and role were direct quotes people need to separate the two when discussing.
Also to be clear Embiid was not just talking about touches he was talking about the quality of looks, like you said where he is being put on the court, and being double sometimes triple teamed in the paint.
The only way that changes if we can draw a big out of the paint either Chandler or Muscala have to step up and be a knock down 3PT shooter and give Embiid some space to operate.

Media will always look for any sliver of info that would/create drama around Jimmy Butler. I think this is all fake news and fully expect Embiid to come out after a game and say he has no issue with Jimmy if he hasnt already.

I think, as other posters said, we should decide if we build around Embiid or if we build around Simmons. Their games are like opposite, Embiid needs to slow down the game to post up, while Simmons wants fast pace, especially in transition. Embiid can't operate in the post with ideal success with Simmons clogging the paint, while Simmons would benefit from a better shooter than what Embiid is.
In reality, what Kobblehead said is looking better, Towns would be a perfect fit with Simmons. And I obviously prefer Embiid to Simmons, but it is what it is.
If I have to pick between two talented upside players. I'm going to pick the one that's willing to work on his flaws and improve his game because he wants to be the best.

So Butler basically? lol
BTW I wasn't saying to keep Simmons before Embiid, just that we would be better with a similar caliber star (or slightly lesser) that fits better with either guy.

your point does make sense (building around one or the other) but dont we have a longer window than this? how about we give them a chance to make it work? dont they always say good players make it work in the end?
i worry we are over-analyzing this stuff too early (and i know being able to forecast is important) but whos to say for sure that a year from now, ben finally has a mid range game and/or joel becomes a much better shooter from 3....or both?

So he is either bitching about butler or brown.
