Mavs lost a lot of close games in the fourth quarter last year. This year they are winning those close games. Luka is a huge part of this. He has ice in his veins and can hit the big shot when it counts. He looks like he is going to be a superstar in the NBA.

I love when Luka proves a lot of people wrong.

You did good for a month and a half, waiting in the shadows, and then you stagnated into same-type posting as before (ha!). You couldn't even bare to wait for the whole of 48 minutes of a struggling rookie's game time to post "i told you so, dis fat boy".

I think Doncic is correct. He's not playing well on both end until the last few minutes. I don't like how the Mavs adjust to Capela offensively. Powell's single-handedly put Houston in the game. Brunson can only stop Harden but awful defending anyone else. But a win is a win. Yes, DJ got 9 offensive board. But he's only challenge layups three times the whole game. He avoids contact all game long in terms of rim protection. A lot of primeter defenders can't stay in front of offensive player. This game is pretty ugly. Of course, the refs surely help Houston a lot. I wonder why Harden escape from 5 or more offensive fouls elbowing defenders but the Mavs get travelling call at equivalent amount. Surely, Brunson looks mature in decision making.

Whenever you are playing without Maxi, you know you are bound to have problems with defending.

The step back threes are special and flashy.

But this is the sort of play that always gets me.

Man, I don't know if Mr. Trader will be able to come back from this one. Best to stick to the stock market... Player evaluation ain't his thing.

This former scout with the Hawks thinks Doncic can be prime Hedo or Gallo with little upside. Thoughts?

I think he is on par with prime Hedo or prime Gallo right now. Can I be a Hawks scout now?

He's already better i would say. Or at least on par with Hedo. No wonder Hawks organization can't get anywhere with such evaluations...

Lost me on the Hedo / Gallo Euro comp BS. The guy was let go by the Wizards, the Hawks, smh. If you come up with some Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce comps, then that at least shows some outside of box thinking.

all this comparisons are totally wrong because you just can’t compare rookie year of one player to the best year off the career of other player. Hedo had only 1 year in his career similar to this years Luka.

Exactly. I'd love to meet the scout who thought Steph'd be this good now.

I don't know man. Prime Hedo was really really good. Great playmaker and a deadly shooter. Arguably the 2nd best player on a Finals team. Pity his "prime" only lasted for a couple of seasons. Luka should definitely surpass him, but I'm just not sure if he's there yet. But he's already much better than a rookie Harden or a rookie Durant or a rookie Westbrook :)

So tell me, where was I wrong? He had a very bad 45 min and then a 3 min explosion. Those 3 min will not happen on a regular basis but bad % happened last year for half of the season and is happening right now practically every game. His last 10 games he has been shooting 35% from the field, 34% just in December. You cant deny the numbers, no matter how hard you try. But if you get so excited about a 3 min stretch which will happen 1x every 100 games (if that), then you will be very disappointed.

For the last 10 games or so Luka has been playing more like I expected before the season. 14-15ppg on below average %, 5 assists and about 6-7 reb was my expectation before the season. He had a hot shooting start but is now coming back to earth and only fools cant see that. Just watch the games and compare how he is playing now with how he has been playing a month ago.

You're brushing off those 2 min where he scored 11 points on his own and single-handedly won the game as if it never happened...

IT. DID. HAPPEN.

How many rookies in the last 10 years had a clutch performance like that?

Mavs are consistently winning at home, what more would one want from the kid?

Saying something could happen (missing a shot as opposed to making it) is a terrible point of view. All players could potentially miss all their shots.
