I just like better the Smart comparison because he finishes pretty equal at the rim, throwing his massive body against defenders without much plan.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

He's not Marcus Smart. Smart is a basketball savant, but just doesn't have all the skills to go with it. I agree with those who compare Dortz to Lance Stephenson, or my current favorite comp being Rodney Stuckey who is more athletic than Lance. Tyreke also a good one. Jonathon Simmons comes to mind as well. He's a strong slasher wing type.

Tyreke became a pretty decent player in the long run. With better coaching (both in development and in establishing a proper gameplan/strategy - an organized offence besides give the ball to Tyreke)... I could see Dort working out as a good pick, especially in the 20-30+ range. Maybe even a great pick.

Another fantastic analysis at The Stepien.

Seems Stucky is their low end comp with Wade as the upper bar.

I was impressed with him last night. Looked super explosive.

I like him but have two issues. The first is that rainbow shot. I’m not sure why someone hasn’t coached the arc out of it yet. That needs to happen ASAP.

Second is that he doesn’t look that long to me. I notice it on his finishes especially. It’s impressive hi he jumps into the defenders chest and draws fouls, but I worry about his ability to finish over and around NBA bigs.

At first glance he reminded me a bit of Kris Dunn, but he's bulkier, not quite as agile and probably won't play as a PG.

I'm still thinking he's around 10. Maybe higher.

Zion, barret, reddish, bol, rui

Guys like Dort or Brandon Clarke are going to go way higher than it looks now.

Dort yes, I think will go top 20 or even top 15 but I think teams might be wary of Clarke's age.

I don't where I'd put him but there are a lot of SGs in that range:

Langford
Barrett
Dort
Porter Jr.
Alexander-Walker
Culver

and he's under the radar but I'd put Battle with those guys as well.

I think Dort goes late lotto and Clarke in the 20s, I'd take Dort ahead of Alexander-Walker and dunno about Romeo, that one is tough, below the others as of now

I have Dort and Clarke late lottery. Both have grown on me. Alexander-Walker I have in the next tier with about 11 players, Langford also in that group. Probably Langford ahead of Alexander-Walker. Talen Horton-Tucker also in the group of 11.

Basically my tier after the big names is

Rui Hachimura
Coby White
Charles Bassey
Temetrius Morant
Luguentz Dort
Brandon Clarke

I’m pretty high on Bassey after watching him a lot and Coby White has grown on me. Also think Clarke is just really good.

hardest player for me to decipher. He can defend, has a handle and draws fouls. It’s everything else. Might be a Roleplayer right away, might be at the end of the bench/in the G-League. Long term could have significant upside if he can get his game together.

he's Westbrookish in that his body looks like it's working faster than his mind a lot of the times and because of it doesn't really think about what he's doing or what's going on around him.

the raw talent is undeniable, and I've seen him playing some pretty ridiculous on-ball defense, but some of the other parts like handling, finishing, playmaking and decision making are all over place.

i think he can be a really good project pick in the 20s for a team that can slowly bring him along, but I don't know if I can justify taking him higher than that.

where is everyone on Dort now? great game tonight, and has now hit 40% from 3 in his last 6 games.

still don't know where I land on him tbh. insanely inconsistent, but goes thru stretches where he's an absolute menace attacking the rim and on defense.

I really like him. Don't have a good comp for him. As far as his draft projection. I am guessing a good organization trades up for him in a wtf move that looks brilliant in 5 seasons.

Reminds me of Donovan Mitchell.

Seems like a major boom bust prospect that somebody will take a gamble on mid-late lottery too me at this point esp if the good results keep rolling.

biggest issues are decision making and efficiency. good news is that his TS% is up to 54% in conference which is good news, but turnovers are also up, which is still problematic.

like I said earlier...he's got a bit of Westbrook in him in that his body sometimes seems to move quicker than his brain because his so talented but the baseline talent on its own is definitely worthy of a lotto pick. It's the BBIQ and nuances of the game that are in question.

A worse shooting Josh Okogie.

Physical standpoint: Okogie (6-4 207) vs Dort (6-4 215)

Stats:
    PTS TRB AST FG% FG3% FT%
    Okogie 16.9 5.8 2.0 43.7 38.2 77.7
    Dort 16.2 4.4 2.4 40.4 30.6 68.6
