What do you think of his motor? I don't remember who, but I saw someone say the kid was extremely talented but that he didn't think he'd maximize his potential due to an inconsistent motor.

His motor in all honesty isn't an issue imo. He has a laid back demeanor and his facial expression never really changes most of the game but I see a kid who wants and seeks to be great. Heck just last night he missed something like 3 straight fts and you could see the pure disgusted he had in himself and he had to be calmed a bit by fellow rookie Mitchell Robinson before he sobered up and hit 4th attempt. Little things like that show me the kid has a desire in him to be better.

Appreciate the info and glad he has the drive. Looking forward to seeing how he develops.

My jury is still out. It comes and goes. But part of when it goes seems to be that he's processing what he should be doing and when he's thinking he's really slow to react.

If he can work on his positioning and strength when he's finishing inside he can really be a force on offense. His shot is beautiful.

If Doncic leads DAL to a completely unthought of playoff berth, is he MVP?

Doncic is a beast and should be ROY, but posts like these are so weird. There are 20-30 players having better years than Luka (which should be expected), but c'mon.

Robert Williams is going to be a hell of a defender and rebounder in the next couple years. The dudes defensive potential is pretty scary.

Why not? Pelicans have MVP level player in Davis but worse record. The fact that Dallas has more wins proves my point that Doncic is providing more impact than Davis.

Because if the ended today AD wouldn't receive any MVP votes. AD's raw and advanced numbers also blow Doncic's out of the water. Basically every MVP comes from a top 2-3 see except for Russ when he put up a historic season. Doncic is not a MVP candidate.

This is also the best way to turn the general fan base against a player. Have his fans over hype the crap out of him. Why not just be cool with him having a great ROY season?

No. Giannis has that award on lock if you ask me.

he's been in bit of a funk as of recent but games like this show why he went #1. his potential is massive. he needs time to put it all together. 20/12/3/3 in 28 mins

We've seen Luka's scoring prowess, but tonight he unleashed the passing flair. 9 assists, including a couple of wizardly ones.

By people I hope you mean a single poster. Anyway, Luka had a terrible shooting but a great playmaking night, showing a glimpse of what he could become one day on a nightly basis, when he puts it all together. Good stuff.

Thanks for the replies, but it was a joke. I don't think Hawks should've passed on Doncic and a bit pizzed

While we are all amazed by Doncic (ok, I'm not so much because I'm following him for three years already :D ), I think other Dallas rookie deserve mention in this topic - Jalen Brunson.

With DSJ missing because of injury, Brunson started last few matches and he also played huge part in last win against Houston and in todays easy win against Orlando.

It looks like Doncic and Brunson fit perfectly on court...

Exactly my thoughts, I was trying to think of a max. ceiling for him, do you have any comp? Maybe Avery Johnson? Or could he be better?

DJ freaking missed 3 easy dunks/layups from his passes. How the hell can he be this clumsy lol... And Luka needs his confidence back in his shots. He could have had a triple double in 23 mins of playing.. 3pts and 1 assist short. Incredible stuff.

And yes Brunson deserves a starting spot if you ask me, he is showing incredibly good IQ already and is a perfect match to play along Luka, even more than DSJ.

And also, Ayton finally brought some energy and played great. Hopefully he wont disappear again for the next 10 games.. Should be a fun game, him vs Luka in couple of days.

I love Luka's style and swagger, but he hasn't been much better than an average starter overall. 18/7/4 is nice but barely even gets him into the all-star conversation and, more importantly, he's been weak on D and not very efficient on offense--shooting efficiency is average and he's turning the ball over a ton for someone who takes up medium volume.

MVP is supposed to go to the best and most dominant player overall, and Doncic is probably the 50-60th best and most dominant player. (He also doesn't deserve all the credit for the Mavs hot start.)

How many players are 18/7/4/1 right now this season?
Spoiler:
7. 9 without the steals.

His turnovers are 2.3/g last 5 games, and 2.8/g last 10 games. Assists are climbing towards 5.0.

Mavs had anything but a hot start of the season.

His defense is actually solid.

He's not MVP (of the NBA), that is true, but saying he's just an average starter is a bad take.

If he played in the 4th, he would have probably been the youngest to ever record a triple-double. It's kind of a shame.

6, none of them are Doncic. You can't round up with a question like that.

When you use the actual numbers of 17/6/4/1, there are 9. I'm a fan of Doncic, and think he should have gone first in the draft, but he's not a real MVP candidate this year. Not when there is someone is putting up 28/7/7/1.
