Philadelphia 76ers guard Jimmy Butler left Monday night's 116-102 victory over the Detroit Pistons with a groin strain and was declared out for the rest of the game.
Butler left with 2:20 left in the first quarter after going scoreless but contributing four rebounds and two assists in 10 minutes.
Coach Brett Brown said after the game that he had yet to meet with his medical staff for an update on Butler's injury.
"I don't know the detail of it," Brown said, "nor do I know what's going to happen in relation to the longevity, how long he's going to sit out."

Re: Updates on former Wolves
That is dumbest thing I have ever heard. Because a grown man should not have problems with authority, should understand the context. Even my little kids understand it. It does not mean they are not 'free' it means they can live in real life, when sometimes you are authority for someone, and sometimes another person is an authority for you
Also if that was how Thibs handled situation then he must NOT be a GM.

I have a for-real problem with authority. When somebody’s telling me what to do as a grown man, I have a problem with it.
Also if that was how Thibs handled situation then he must NOT be a GM.

Genius plan for someone about to be a free agent to announce to the world and every team in the league that you have a problem with authority.

You want to pay Belly $15M per year?![]()
It seems everyone has forgotten how he was afraid to shoot the wide-open 3 the last couple years. He showed stretches of being a good player but he also went long stretches of doing nothing and passing up open shots which totally effed up the offense.
I wanted to keep him, but losing him didn't really hurt us and if Butler was still here (he was still here when Belly signed) then Belly would rarely have a chance to be a ball handler as the offense went thru Butler, Teague, Towns, and Wiggs (and now Rose) before it would go thru Belly.
15mil/3yrs.
Bjelica should have played stretch PF, 25 minutes with KAT. Instead Thibs stucked with Dieng and Taj contracts. Then he gave AT a bit more than other teams on market just to sit him last games. Genius move.
Bjelly took less than his qualifying offer just to get away from us. He's basically a casualty of last year's toxic locker room environment (and also i think he hates Thibs)

Not us, thibs.
Ricky, jamal, etc.. have all hinted at the same things.
Almost player that flip brought in were types that enjoy personal relationships. Thibs made it very clear that this was going to be about work and that he isnt interested in being friends.

“I have a coach who is trusting me,” Bjelica told The Athletic after a 141-130 victory over the Timberwolves on Wednesday night. “He knows how to use me. Not just me, he knows how to use everybody on this team. We have a great atmosphere, great group of guys. It’s the NBA. Everything is about opportunity in this league.”

Poor guy,
I have a feeling he will always be missing time. Kind of Grant Hill 2.0
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/251972/Zach-LaVine-Out-2-4-Weeks-With-Ankle-Injury
Had we kept him, people would be complaining that we gave up Wiggins and his durability for an oft injured LaVine.

Belly was soft mentally and physically. He was a head case most of his career. He couldn't decide if he was a NBA player or a pretender. After he left us, he was going to the Sixers, then he decided to go back to Euro league, than had to be talked into going to the Kings. There is no pressure there, so he looks good. But with the Wolves, we needed him to be a strong player. He folded, and pouted. Plus at age 30, he on the downside of his career. He's out after this last contract.

Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
I think here lies the root cause of Bjeli inconsistency. This season he has also had hot and cold games, but his cobfidence is high and he is timely subbed when he is struggling. But when he is in zone he is very efficient. Also I believe that contract situation is something that was bothering Bjelica. The way Thibs handled contract negotiatons was not the best. I mean common, he gave 19 mil Teague without hesitation, that contracts to Dieng, Gibson... And all of the sudden Bjelica 6.5mil contract was a problem...

I just don't think Thibs liked Belly. Belly crumbled when Barky would get on him. Then when he did get in, he rushed shots, played poor D, and didn't do any of the little things. You know the hallowed 9 man rotation, Belly just couldn't handle it. He wasn't worth the $6.5 mil here. Seems a lot of players play better once they leave here. Go figure.

Something is clearly wrong with management of this franchise. I mean Thibs gave 40mil to Shabazz, but showed no interest in bringing back Bjely or Tyus.

It's a different time and different situation. Shabazz showed signs of being good and there was time to use cap space before tax concerns. This last summer the possibility of having 2 if not 3 max contracts really put a premium on what the team could spend money on for the future.
Last year in Minnesota Bjelica wasn't utilized to his potential because he was being utilized to stretch the defense, he was playing a role much like Wiggins and Towns were doing to some extent, it wasn't about optimizing the players, it was about optimizing the team. There's an argument there if that was the right decision, but it seemed to work since this team was on track to win 52 games with Butler and that's with the bench not being any good.

Kris Dunn with 14ppg 5apg so far for his 6 first games of the season.
Another one player who plays with much more confidence away from Thibodeau

I don't know if I am sold on that. His averages are up because LaVine is out. So he has the green light considering they have a few players out with injuries. Average player putting up good stats on a bad team. I did like him as a person, so I hope he can become a good player, but at his age, he might have reached his ceiling.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
