SO it appears Sarver may be threatening to move the team to Vegas or Seattle if they don't approve the arena renovation. :o

Sarver sucks.

Couple of things:
Of course this is the card he played. It's pro owner 101 that when trying to extort money for a facility you always play the moving threat so this shouldn't be at all surprising.

He can't just move the team because he doesn't get his way. The NBA has to approve the move and I really don't think they want to have that happen. Not that it's impossible; just ask Seattle. But the Seattle thing was a PR nightmare and one of the biggest black marks on Sterns resume so I don't think Silver wants to go down that road if at all possible. Plus they have a couple markets in New Orleans and even Memphis that are more at risk than Phoenix.

Expansion is very probable in the near future. It's been a while and with a couple cities like Vegas and Seattle waiting in the wings I think it's only a matter of time before they expand two more teams and then use that as a good time to potentially shorten the schedule and realign conferences.

This is key in two regards for the Suns. First if those two markets get expansion teams then it's really hurts the threat because now the most viable cities left are St. Louis and Kansas City and both would be down graded markets. Second lets say Sarver got his way and moved the team then Phoenix would instantly be on the top of the list for an expansion team and frankly if Sarver plans on owning the team forever then it might be best for the city to see him leave and get a new team with a good owner... this has a ton of danger from a timing perspective but if it was say only a year or two gap then by all means leave this state you **** piece of ****.

Earliest they would expand is 2025...this was reported not long ago.

I wonder if the league would step in and stop him from moving the team after the Seattle thing though.

I honestly don't understand how a person can be that narcissistic. You buy a franchise, run it into the ground to the point where nobody can stand watching any longer, then threaten to steal Arizona's historically favorite sports team away from them because you've made it abundantly clear that you are not someone who should be invested in.

Robert Sarver is truly a piece of human garbage. I don't know if I've ever hated a person that I've never met like I do him.

Really, didn't see that. Is it something to do with the TV deals?

Edit- just did some googling and it does appear tied to TV deals. Weird that the networks would care since more teams is more content.

I don't know, because I think the league wants a team in Seattle and they have an arena ready and I think Silver wants one in Vegas...a lot of owners probably like that idea.

Few people probably wanted a team in OKC.

As I was saying earlier sarver can't just move because he wants to. I wonder if the league would like him out as an owner, they can't just force him to sell unless he does something bad BUT they could not let him move and piss him off to point he cashes in and is gone.
