I'm thinking it's more like:

EGgo doesn't trade Wall by December 15th
EGgo doesn't trade Wall by the trade deadline
    Wizards don't make the playoffs
EGgo is back next year because he signed a secret agreement last week or something
    -AND-
Somewhere in there, EGgo make a really horrible trade anyway, saving Terd money and further ruining the team.
The team will spiral downward and take years to claw its way back to mediocrity, but it will have been worth it because EGgo will finally be gone. Except he won't be. All those years of listening to Red Sox fans and their poetic whining. They didn't have the slightest clue.

Right, no matter what we think should happen, this is probably what's going to happen.

I’m sick of this squad yo yo’ing between slightly good and gawdawful. And Zion is a once in a decade talent I don’t want to miss. Worst case scenario: prime Charles Barkley with 30 lbs more muscle.

There’s no way he goes anything other than #1.
We need to get our tank on. We need to be not tryin’ for Zion.

-Trade Wall for best package possible. It’s clear he’s not a player who can lead a championship contender. He’s just not.

-Beal should have a mysterious Philly Process style “injury” that keeps him out and supercharges the tank.

-Fire Ernie and Scott day after the regular season ends

-Hire new GM who can pick Zion, then a coach, and buy out Howard from his player option (we do not need that cancer)

-We roll into 2019-20 with a core of Beal (26), Otto (26), Zion (19). Were ready to surge into contention as Golden Stage’s dynasty tails off.

Tanking for Zion is going to require a lot of luck in the lottery. We are too late in the tanking contest to catch Phoenix, Atlanta, Cleveland or Chicago and probably New York. So even if we commit to tanking, we're looking at finishing maybe 6th. With the new odds being more generous to less-awful teams, that gives us a 9% shot at the #1 pick. That's better than under the old system which would have given us a 5.3% chance, but it's still not very good.

As it stands right now, we are the 7th worst team and have a 7.5% chance at the #1 pick.

This is why I think the idea of “tanking for Zion” or a top 1-2 pick is silly. Unless this team totally mails it in, which would be a travesty, it’s almost certain that tanking will result in a mid-lottery pick. So if you want to tank and/or blow the Zards up for a mid-lottery pick, fine. But be prepared to end up with a good player—and probably not a great player—and an even worse team than we have now…and possibly several years of mediocrity and not making the playoffs.

It sucks that Howard is injured. Because with a healthy Dwight I believe this team would be above .500 and competing for a 5th or 6th seed in the east.

What am I rooting for this season? I’m rooting for the Zards to win EVERY game and for EG to be fired.

Grunfeld being fired is like trying to take over the world. It's best not to assume anything.

To be fair, there are other good players in this draft besides Zion. The percentages I quoted were solely for the #1 pick. The draft lottery now has 4 drawings. If we finish 6th, our chances of a top 4 pick are 31.9%. On the other hand, if we try and make the playoffs, fail, and end up as the 11th worst team, our chances of a top 4 pick drop to 9.4%.
