maxing athletic big with torn ACL and slow recovery doesn't sound like a good idea

And they are gonna match any offer.

Porzingis is not available, he is a RFA and the face of their franchise.

He's the face of their franchise and there has been rumblings of KP's crew not being happy with the NYK front office.

Since the Knicks love to throw big money at injured players, they probably max him and KP takes the money, but I'd risk it just to make their hand shake. ...you never know.

Sure I'd throw a max offer sheet at KP. The only negative is the knicks will probably wait it out and simply match and that would tie up the suns money for a while and that could mean losing out on other targets. It's the classic dilemma that slows the RFA market down every year.

There is a long con that you can play with RFAs where you do an offer sheet you know the other team will match but you do a 3 plus a player option so that guy hits the market again sooner than if he signed the 5 year deal his team could offer. I also think it strains the relationship between the player and team when they have to go get an offer sheet.

I would love either!...I wonder how much they'll hypothetically command in free agency?.....Are there any standards currently that we can measure by?

Both would be good. Not sure how this young team would handle Green's persona. Maybe prefer Mirotic.

Gimme Portis. He's a scrapper (ha) and is young enough that there's still a ton of potential there.

Also has some range and I don't think he'd cost nearly as much as the other guys I'd want - Tobias and Mirotic. Chicago have a glut of PFs with Lauri and Jabari so I doubt they'd match a $10m-$12m a year offer.

One PF we could go after if we can't get a bigger name (doubtful) or maybe Portis, or even a lesser name that is a good defensive fit and/or rim protector next to Ayton like Kleber or Theis is Marquese Chriss....this guy has shown at times he can hit the 3, can block shots, get steals, etc. Was a bit of a hothead for quite some time but may have been humbled. Could probably sign him for real cheap too.

Just kidding, kinda.

Don't mind Kleber at all. But the Mavs really like him and he fits nicely next to Luka cos of his range and shot-blocking.

Yeah, they'll probably keep him. I wonder what C they will go after though.
