Haha. For all the crap Vlade and Sac got over the summer, they have a hell of a young team with two shinning young stars (Fox/Bagley) and an overall team that fits very well together. The Fox/Bagley duo just looks like the ideal duo because both guys are arguably the fastest guys at their position and that team is fun when they get up and run. Add in Buddy and Bogdan who both fit perfectly as well. WCS is playing really good as well.

Vlade for being the worst GM in the league and a guy that has no clue what he's doing. Sure as hell stumbled and messed up so much that he made a really promising young team. Look at that haha.

He's producing double doubles on athleticism, pure hustle, and one hand. Going to be a beast with a few years of refinement.

Bagley isnt good enough to make a bad lineup good right now. But he doesnt make the good lineups worse. I believe they were talking about this during the Sac game last night and I looked it up. Sac's best lineup (2nd best if you want to count a lineup that has played 20 minutes) when it comes to On/Off with a big sample size is Fox/Hield/Shump/WCS/Bagley with a +23. So Sac's best lineup has been their starting 4 plus Bagley (50 minutes with this lineup, 3rd most used lineup). Those 4 but switch Bagley with Bjelica (the normal starting 5) is -0.1.

Again this guy isnt going to carry a bad team right now, but this is where you can look at his overall On/Off number and not get the whole story. He has played a good amount of minutes with some horrible lineups with that 2nd unit. But over the last close to a month, it seems like Joerger is putting Bagley in much better situations.

I also want to clarify this is not me making a case for Bagley for ROY, I think Doncic has a very healthy lead in that department. Just bumping my Duke guy that a lot of people were saying was going to be the bust of the top 5 and his really good play has been a little slept on in the GB in my opinion.

To me one of the biggest encouraging signs from him, are the small tweaks he is adding to his game. He is driving a little more now than he did previously from the face up position. Now he only drives left, but with his quickness he can still get to the basket a solid amount of times. He also doesnt do that horrible lefty hook shot while going to his right in the paint as often as he did earlier in the season and at Duke. I have seen him use a little hop back fade away shot more as of late, which is a great adjustment. His FT shooting has been much better as well. He is inconsistent there but the form and touch is good, it really seems like its just a matter of time he is a consistent 75-80% shooter from there.

But ya the last close to a month or so he has looked really good and that is mostly from his hustle and athleticism. Its the flashes he continues to show that I think is what makes him such an exciting prospect.

If Jaren Jackson wasn't playing in Memphis he'd be getting a lot more rookie of the year attention. To this board's credit though it looks like he's getting his due here. Ayton and Bagley are both good players, but Donic and Jackson are special.

Either that or DSJ will be used in a trade that will bring a player in that’s a better fit with Luka and Brunson.

I think if Brunson can steal the starting job, DSJ is probably a trade chip rather than a 6th man. I could be wrong, but with Barea still going so strong I'd expect the team to bring him back on a 2 year deal and I don't think he and Smith are a good fit.

Brunson is such a cool character tho. He will never be a star but he's going to be in the league a long time.

Derek Harper was comparing Brunson to Derek Fisher the other day. I’d say that’s an accurate comp for him.

Brunson somewhat reminds me of young Conley, would be great if he turns out at least 2/3 of peak Conley.

I am so happy for SacTown that Bagley is performing as expected so early. Lot of Grizz fans really wanted him in the draft. He will be a very good player. If it wasn't for the hype of Doncic, nobody would be complaining about the pick.

If he would have caught that it would have been even more crazier. The bounce on that Alley was serious.

Well, a bit of a bust in the big rookie matchup. Was Doncic guarding Warren?

Interesting how vocal DeAndre is with Luka and how he keeps pushing him. Didn't expect him to be the one in his ear like that. Nice dynamic happening between the two, really nice to see. Also shows how that "stolen" rebound bull was nothing but that, bull.

Yep, the Luka fans have been trying to trade everyone not named Dirk on the Mavericks. I think they put a good squad around him for his rookie year. Lots of other ball handlers but nobody alpha enough to keep his touches down. He is growing quite well. Glad he is being developed as more of a scorer than some pass first guy.

This rookie class is so good.

How much does Defense matter when voting for ROY??

Because it does I think Jaren Jackson Jr could win it but if is just about points Donic will run away with it.

It's been just a few games but in a few years from now JJJ will win Defensive player of the Year he is like a tall D.Green.

We actually have had JJJ get a decent bit of attention. Our standards are low because Memphis isn't a team anyone talks about, but the local media and quite a few fans are thrilled that he gets the occasional national mention.

I am enjoying how great so many of these rookies have been. I think most teams are happy with their pick and you could make a valid argument for quite a few guys as being the 2nd best rookie, top 5 rookie, etc.

As for ROY, I feel like offense is usually favored over defense but defense still plays a part. I think Doncic is clearly ahead of JJJ even with JJJ playing great defense, but there are still a lot of games left and I wouldn't count out some of the other rookies just yet either.

I think that he was talking about how neither rookie had a huge game.

One thing which I was surprised about Bagley was his drives...looked very smooth...I think even Saric was surprised with Bagley's drives, couldn't handle him properly
