timeout

that might just be game there

hard to win when Kawhi's off and Lowry's not playing. It'll catch up to you during stretches like that.

Nurse is a moron. He needs to stop playing the whole bench to start the 4th.

why is mortal engines a stupid concept though? at least is more creative than the bull superhero movie every year.

the concept isn't bad. the problem IMO is using that concept for a big budget blockbuster. it's a huge gamble investing that much into an IP without widespread recognition. People know of it, for sure, but it's not something every 3rd or 5th person you ask on the street would know about.

I sorta understand where they're coming from, that maybe an interesting concept with some following and clever marketing would hook people into watching, but for me I would rather it be a smaller budget thing to hedge against various possible issues, like the script being a poor adaptation of the novel, or the acting being subpar, etc.

For me it seems like the studio has put it under the same umbrella as the Divergent series and Maze Runner series (despite the source novels probably being very different in tone). And those films didn't really do that well.

i dont think amovie like that wouldve done well with a smaller budget though simply because of the special effects

probably. I just dunno how the IP would work really because of that problem. maybe if the writing/story were good. I'm unfamiliar with the novels though.

I dunno if this is relevant, but I keep thinking about the Ender's Game movie and how it was an incredibly poor adaptation of the novel. That despite the good effects and acting, it was just terrible. They stripped the seriousness and brutality out of the novels and made it a kid-friendly, feel-good space coming of age movie.
