Lol at Chris Wallace trying to pull the good ol' bait and switch with Marshon and Dhillon Brooks. I think this was intentional. Then again, I also think that Chris Wallace is the type of guy who sucks the jelly and cream out of all the donuts and then puts them back in the box.

Yep. Fun fact: we are now just two games back of Toronto in the loss column (and we all know the loss column is all that matters).

Is Ariza for Oubre really that much of an upgrade? Oubre is a solid young player.
Not sure what Washington wanted from this deal.

Yeah I don't know. Originally, I thought it was just because Ariza was a FA this summer and they would be able to clear some money, but Oubre is an RFA. If they were worried about a cap hold, they could have just renounced Oubre at the onset of FA.
I don't what the heck they're doing. Maybe hoping Ariza (who has played with Wall and Beal before) can be a stabilizing veteran presence in the locker room?
Either way, Phoenix cleaned up in this deal. Ariza meant nothing to them, and Oubre gives them another solid young wing to toy around with.

Oubre for Ariza is that much of an upgrade if the Wiz are trying to win now. In fact, Oubre for nothing is probably an upgrade IMO.
I'm biased because the guy is one of my least favorite players in the league. But he is not a good player, and with guys like him and Dwight, I'm sure Ariza would be a welcome addition to that locker room.

The thing with the Wizards is that trying to win now doesn't make much sense. They aren't going anywhere. They should be looking to clean house, if anything.

That is what they should be doing. According to this guy they did not want to pay Oubre cause if their cap situation.

I would be trying to unload that John Wall albatross. I think he is going to make 170,000,000 over the next 4 years. That is insane.

so Lakers saving everything for a Davis trade offer.
Not surprised.
I just hope Danny doesn't shoot himself in the foot with allowing assets to diminish in value in hopes of a potential future trade for Anthony.
I mean in the last 5 months the values of the picks, brown and terry have all taken a nosedive.

Just gotta find a buyer. Maybe Toronto ( http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y7mvpc6c ) but that's a lot of salary and years to bring in, it puts you in a huge hole if Kawhi doesn't stay, and why mess with chemistry when everything is clicking?
I assume LeGM would rather hold on to some of that cap space for free agents during the summer.
Would he be too young and uninjured for Memphis?
Is James Dolan off his meds again?
Who else is out there that would have any motivation to bite?

As I am unfamiliar with the NBA and Kawhi Leonard and the horrific conditions in Toronto and the wonderful sunshine and beaches and amusement parks and Trout and excitement and fame of Los Angeles, what does this headline mean?
They traded an all-star and a great prospect to rent Danny Green?
The NBA, really sending the two biggest teams they have to Mexico to promote the game.
Oubre is "famous" for one thing in his life, and he can thank the Celtics for that.
Who says no to this trade, Memphis or Phoenix?
MarShon Brooks, Dillon Brooks, Aaron Brooks, Michael Brooks, Scott Brooks and Kevin Brooks for Brook Lopez and Brooks Thompson
Did see a rumor of Spurs hoping to offer D Murray, Walker and P Gasol for Wall.
An elderly salary and two injured guards. Washington would still win the trade.
What teams are desperate, would want Wall? Detroit? New Orleans? Wall for Mirotic, E Payton?
The bad teams want to tank and have money to spend, the good teams already have nicer point guards. Wall to orlando for J Isaac and Mozgov-money?

Austin Rivers on his fifth team since 2012. I still remember fondly how this board wanted the Celtics to draft him.

He pretty much sucks and is only in the league because for some unknown reason, due to his name, someone thinks he will be like his
Dad.

Oh for the love of...
Five games with seeding/pick significance tonight. We wanted:
BOS over DET
UTA over ORL
HOU over MEM
SAS over CHI
MIN over PHX
(The last four are teams that are positioned to push SAC and MEM for the playoffs in the West.)
The team we wanted to win was favored in all five games, but four out of those five games went against us, including heavy underdogs CHI and PHX beating SAS and MIN.

Oubre apparently had a market developing - he’s young and very very uneven. Using him to swap an expiring Rivers for an expiring Ariza? Head scratcher..
Wonder if Austin will make the Suns feel better about the point guard position..

Re: Around the NBA (3.0), 2018-19 (Non-Celtics Talk)
Hmm, we have too many first rounders coming into the next draft and sadly they're all looking outside of the top 10 so pretty much meh picks.
It would never happen, but it would be a pretty good move for Ainge to toss our own first to the 76ers for Fultz.
Fultz may never be much as a player, but we know we're losing one of or both of Rozier and Smart to cap casualities at some point.
And frankly getting Fultz is about as great of a high ceiling you would get with a late 20s pick in any draft. And with us trading away AT LEAST Rozier he would have a role to step in and try to fill.
Even if he never learns to shoot and just focuses on playing like a broken man's Ben Simmons that's honestly something that our team could use. His elite physical traits should allow him to defend the 1-3 position on switches and you should start by modling him in the way of playing like a Shaun Livingston does for the Warriors.
Hard to make the salaries match, and there's zero chance that the 76ers franchise would do it. But that is exactly the kind of chance you'd want to see Ainge take advantage of and he can do having a stacked roster. Again though the salaries matching is almost impossible unles Aaron Baynes agrees to be traded or we trade them Marcus Morris who is exactly what they need and might put them over the top soooo yeah hard sell.

Re: Around the NBA (3.0), 2018-19 (Non-Celtics Talk)
So the Raptors are decimated with injuries and they had Kawhi and they can't win? Pfft, that top 5 player crap is so overrated at times. It's kinda odd but the Raptors have actually looked better this season with Kawhi out at times then in. As much crap as we all give Lowry (who was out tonight) it's actually more of his team. I still feel they are trying to mesh Kawhi in there and their bench has looked pretty bad.
Lakers got blown out of the water by the Wizards today, John Wall plopped 40 points on their asses. Sometimes I still can't believe Lebron went to play with those kids in LA, unless he and Magic really do have plans to move guys later.

And we at least won't even have Terry by the trade deadline next year.
But yeah our picks have gone from valuable to "meh"able real fast.
Sadly at this point I think the only thing that could save them is an injury to Fox to slow the Kings down.
