Pretty sure this deal include a player from the Wizards and may include some cash. Tbh this whole deal is very confusing.

Our 1st is gone. Ernie Grunfeld is allowed to make this trade to save his job.
Glad I am wrong.

The Nets missed 40 shots tonight. We managed 22 defensive boards.
Rodion Kurucs is a good looking 20 year old rookie! #40 pick played 30 minutes tonight.

If it's Ariza in & Oubre/Rivers out, this saves us $850,000.
Except that it doesn't. B/c it takes us down to 13 players, meaning we'll have to add someone.
So, what is this trade for? Any guesses...? Why, yes, you are right -- its role is to hide Ernie Grunfeld's mistake in trading Gortat for Rivers!

Maybe this is the prelude to a big trade to be announced tomorrow. Bye bye Otto. Hello 25 win season.

Oubre? Wow....
Am I the only one that fails to see the benefit of Ariza? Apparently teams are jumping at the opportunity to acquire him and somehow Wizards got the jump?
Someone school me...really school me on the benefit aside the gain of $800k+ in savings which means basically a D League hopeful.

Watch this be Mahinmi and a 2019 1st round pick.
Totally predictable. Saves a little on the lux tax this year, but gets them out of the last year of Mahinmi's contract. Can be sold as a win-now move. Burns a draft pick.

My thought is that they knew they couldn't resign Oubre so they just moved him for a better player, even knowing Ariza will be gone soon.

Anatomy of a blown deal.

It's hilarious, even on trades the Wizards manage to embarrass themselves.
Great for team chemistry, Rivers and Oubre will be thrilled.

I didn't watch the 4th quarter and then saw the trade news (thank God it didn't go through). Too much going on right now! Please Mr. Leonsis, fire Grunfeld and hire someone from the board for example!!

It's funny that nobody is even posting about the game in this thread. That's how little we care about the current roster.
You are right. The rebounding was pathetic. We were outrebounded 46-25. You can't win like that.
Beal and Wall combined for 22 assists and 2 turnovers, not to mention 48 points on over 50% shooting, but the Wizards still lost. Gotta rebound.

Glad I didn't watch this game. That along with the blundered deal is not a great way to finish the week.

Wizards are now 2-8 without Otto Porter in the past 2 season (including the playoffs).

He is waaaaaay overrated. Don't we have a .100 winning percentage with Wall out of the lineup?

Re: GT#29 Wizards @ Nets 7:30 PM Friday 12/14/18
Went to the game last night and got to watch from a different perspective, behind the basket. Mainly just reinforced what we already knew - Wizards just can't stay in front of their man. Green was the worst, followed closely by just about everyone else. And our front court is bad at rebounding. Big news there too.
Other observations:
Best player on the court was Spencer Didwiddie (could have been signed by Wizards 2 years ago from D league when we were suffering through Trey Burke debacle)
Kurucs is really good for a 20 year old. Good skills and size.
Wall was passing up good shots around the basket to pass to players at the 3 point line. What was that about?
Oubre was getting stuffed at the basket by good Net defense. At end of the game made bush league dunk after Nets just took 24 second violation to not run up the score.
I'm not an Austin Rivers fan, but he was hustling his ass off last night. Hard not to appreciate someone who works so hard - especially in comparison to some other Wizards. Had air ball on a free throw and almost a 2nd one. Amazing to see that from an NBA guard.
Ed Davis was a good pickup for the Nets. We really could use him.
Nets are close to being a good team. With eventual return of Levert, a decent draft pick, and plenty of cap room to sign free agents, the future looks good.
