Absolutely. Simmons will have to embrace being more of a scorer for that to fully be maximized though. Blake is just as comfortable scoring or passing and doesn't hunt for either stat. Simmons might enjoy passing a bit too much, if that's even possible.
Eh I think Simmons has a substantially higher ceiling than Blake.

Let's not even go down that road, no reason to comp the two. Simmons has ridiculous handle, vision, and passing instincts but can't shoot at all or finish like Griffin. Simmons also has better blow-by burst but can't match Griffin's power. Griffin basically just dunked on everyone in the NCAA his entire sophomore year, while Simmons ran around and through them.

Overall, they're not that similar beyond being big guys who can handle and weren't good shooters coming out of college. As usual, comps are going to be less insightful than more.

He just gives his primary options the green light, for better or for worse.

If they're talented enough, it works well. If they shoot well-covered long twos early in the clock, he still lets them do it without repercussions. That doesn't scream "good coach" to me.

I'm not a huge fan of the way Blake plays, but...is there a case for him to be MVP of this season?

I look at Detroit's roster and think he's carrying them. Granted they're not a top team, but they are 6th in the East.

Wait until the playoffs

Casey's biggest flaw in Toronto is that he never had a real Superstar. Even his terrible substitutions and last second play calling would have been masked if he had one at his disposal...

Carlisle did have Dirk Nowinzki on his team when Casey was learning the art of coaching as an Assistant. He knows how important they are.

Detroit are in good shape to do some damage.

Nope. He has been great, but not that great. He's probably a top 10 player and a great leader on a really bad team right now.

It's sad that we can't have a thread discussing the evolution of Blake Griffin without salty Raptor fans coming along spouting their s**t about Casey.

It's sad we can't discuss things that emerge in the thread without upsetting people by going even slightly off-topic for a couple of posts.

Blake is killing it this season. It's been incredible to behold. Happy?

Dreaming of a day when Giannis gets the calls Griffin gets. Dude is shameless head flailing flopper. He's done well to adjust his game to his dwindling athleticism but the guy is a short armed Harden as far as theatrical basketball performance goes.
